where Ralph Wiggum says “hello supernintendo chalmers” or the lemon tree episode: the 2 milhouses meet: “so this is what it feels like, when doves cry!” the Gil character always gets me as well “close the deal, Gil, the wolfs at the door” the fact that Mo always has something dodgy going on in his back room, and later, in the background “awww, whodda thought a killer whale could be so heavy?” (x-files episode i think) has it gone downhill yet? i havent seen any of the newer episodes… ---

I loved the “Homer is an artist” episode. Particularly the Jasper Johns gags. ---

Speaking of Moe… Last night, it was a Treehouse of Horror, featuring “Hell Toupee.” I love the part when Moe comes in, makes a snide remark about Snake’s smoking, and then asks Apu if he has any cereal for people with syphilis. The best part is later on, seeing him at the bar with a box of cereal labelled “Pennicillin-O’s.” And Wiggum’s line later on: “Homer Simpson, you’re under arrest for the murder of Moe Syzlak and Apu Nahasa-Nahasa…uh, just Moe, just Moe.” And Dr. Nick: “These drugs will make the operation seem like a beautiful dream!” ---

Much like the Jasper Johns thing was Peter Frampton’s guest spot on Homerpalooza. Homer ‘loses’ his pig (“I bought that pig at Pink Floyd’s yard sale!”), the sandwich thing (“Sonic Youth’s in my cooler! Get out of there, you kids!” and “Marge, I thought I had an appetite for destruction. But all I wanted was a club sandwich.” “There might be one in this cooler. Oh, here you go.” Frampton: “Ohh!”) Teen1: Oh, here comes that cannonball guy. He’s cool. Teen2: Are you being sarcastic, dude? Teen1: I don’t even know anymore. Come to think of it, Billy Corgan’s line is pretty classic, too. Billy: We envy you, Homer. All we have is our music, our legions of fans, our millions of dollars, and our youth. [pause] Woo-hoo! James: Let’s all go out and buy fur coats! Jimmy: I want a walk-in humidor! ---

Oh, I also like that Selma’s whole name is Bouvier-Terwilliger-_Hutz_-McClure. It’s long enough without Nahasa- pasa- whatever. ---

I love how once you start doing this, you keep thinking of more of them. I’m amazed no one seems to have said Kearney’s son’s (!) famous line, “I sleep in a drawer!” “Why you throwin’ tomatoes at yourself? Why you throwin’ tomatoes at yourself?” “Your very question is faulty!” “YOU’re faulty!” (More tomatoes) ---

You guys are both right, actually. The bit is something like “AAAAAAAAAAH! They’re out of hot dogs! AAAAAAAAAAH! And the coleslaw has pineapple in it! AAAAAAAAAAH! German potato salad!” “Hello there. My name is Guy Incognito.” The whole bit. But especially- “Oh my god! That man is my exact double! Oh my god! That dog has a puffy tail! Heeheehee, c’mere puff!” ---

I seem to remember an episode where either Skinner or the preacher paraphrased Bob Dylan’s song title “The Times They Are A-Changin’” as “The Times They Are Becoming Different!” I think it was Skinner, but it might have been the preacher. ---

The show lived on turf staked out by The Simpsons to a certain degree (I suppose the Homer/Peter resemblance was the strongest similarity, actually), but it was its own thing. I imagine there would’ve been some mutual respect there. The Simpsons did one other Family Guy joke, incidentally. In the episode where Homer pisses off PBS and becomes a missionary, Betty White urges viewers to donate to FOX “unless you want to see low-brow programming disappear from the airwaves forever.” As she says this, she clicks off a TV with the Family Guy logo on it. 😃 ---

In the past few years, I’ve noticed something on the rise: guest stars saying “yoink!” at some point. Off the top of my head, I remember Ron Howard, Jasper Johns, and Mark McGuire saying it at some point. And now that I search for it, I see that SNPP has even put together a [“Yoink List”](http://www.snpp.com/guides/yoinks.html). Besides those I mentioned, the list also mentions Mel Gibson and Andre Agassi. ---

My favorite throw away line is when Snake is robbing Moe’s Bar, and Moe gets himself stuck in his security/bullet proof/air tight room in the back. As Snake takes the cash out of the register (yoink), he says, “Goodbye student loan payments!” and runs off. That line (and his delivery) just crack me up. Thinking about Snake being a college grad makes his character so much more funny, but if you blinked you would have missed it. ---
