I’ve been busy with my other games (Diablo 2 Exp.) but when I get back to Livin’ Large I’ll work on getting that robomaid.

Just so you (and other curious Sims fans) know, besides _Livin’ Large/Livin’ It Up_ (I have to use both names so our European friends aren’t confused), there’s a newer expansion pack, _House Party_. And _Hot Date_ is coming soon, too. In fact, they had to cancel _Simsville_ since that was trying to do the same things _Hot Date_ will-get your Sims out to other houses, I think.

Ooh, I’m rambling. Where were we? Oh yes, _Livin’ Large/Livin’ It Up_. Haven’t been playing _The Sims_ lately, since I just got one of Will Wright’s other great games, _SimCity 3000_. Let me see what my _Livin’ Large_ Strategy Guide says about various things…

MORE NEIGHBORHOODS…_Livin’ Large_ adds four new neighborhoods, so you have five instead of just one. This is good if you enjoy creating ridiculous or strange families to experiment with. However, in friend-making and chatting, two neighborhoods can’t interact (i.e. A Sim living in Neighborhood 1 could be visted by another Sim living in Neighborhood 1, but not by a Sim living in Neighborhoods 2,3,4, or 5).

NEW CAREERS…Would your Sim like to have a career in Journalism or Music? Would they like to make money off of paranormalism? Would they like to be a hacker or a slacker? Whatever the field, they can take it with these five new career tracks. (Of the new careers, Hacker pays most at the end, with a Level 10 daily pay of §1,550.)

NEW NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTERS…If your Sim is sad and blue, the Tragic Clown may come for you. If you have the painting of him in your house, and your Sim family is depressed, the Tragic Clown will come to your house, do bad magic tricks, and wallow in self-pity. He won’t leave until your Sim family is happier or the picture is sold or destroyed in a fire. The Grim Reaper will come by if a Sim dies to take the poor Sim’s soul to the underworld. If you talk to him, you may be able to challenge G.R. in a game of Rock Paper Scissors. If your Sim wins, he leaves and gives the Sim back its life. If your Sim loses, the dead Sim will either die, or become a zombie.

Next post (maybe), new items, like the Genie, the chemistry set, and Servo the robot.

Oh, good gods! Never post on an hour of sleep in three days!
I got the House Party expansion pack.
Please feel free to insert House Party where ever applicable in the op.
Thank you for your continued support.

I feel like such a twit.

So has anyone figured out a pattern to the potions made with the chemistry set? I’ve seen ones that raise 3 motive scores, ones that turn the Sim into a monster which wanders around breaking things, ones that create their “evil twin,” and ones that permanently reverse their personality. Is it random, or dependent on skill, or does anyone know?

It’s random. The effect depends on color. My guide says this:

White: cure guinea pig disease (only can be made if Sim has been bitten by diseased guinea pig)
Blue: Maxes out all motives
Chartreuse: Motives drop
Brown: Sim turns invisible
Red: Sim falls in love with person with the lowest Relationship score
Green: creates evil clone
Yellow: personality traits reversed
Pink: turns Sim into appliance-breaking monster.

I’m surprised they decided to cancel Simsville. I’m not disappointed though, since I was in the minority of people who wasn’t anticipating it anyway. It just seemed too Simtown to me…They did this to Simmars, too, built up hype then pulled the rug out from under the project. Strange way to do business in my opinion.

As for the potions, it is random, but blue is the most likely one to be produced.

I’m looking forward to Hot Date, though. Maybe by that time I’ll figure out why all of the pictures from my site were mysteriously erased from my directory…downloads are now “site unseen” I guess. I swear that anything you’d download would be prettier than the red x’s currently showing 🙂 [http://www.geocities.com/simthingdifferent](http://www.geocities.com/simthingdifferent) At least the FAQ and “cheats”(Ever wanted to raise a baby without singing to or feeding it?) pages remain unaffected by the lack of pictures.
