> Well, **jayjay** , in each prior post of mine I commented in one way or another about the silliness of my complaint. Don’t worry, I was way ahead of you.

Heh. It wasn’t directed to you particularly, **lno**. More to the general mindset that I’ve seen all over the place.

> Vlad Tepes was a bit more than a “cranky Romanian warlord,” although he wasn’t the full-blown bloodsucking undead. True, he was a real person and a historical figure, but the legend of his savagery against the Ottomans had made him a supernatural, monstrous figure to the peasantry of Romania loooooong before Bram Stoker ever got ahold of the legend. Somewhere in there, the legend became conflated with the traditional Carpathian “wampyr” monster, and gave Stoker the seed of the story. He picked up the ball and ran with it, but he didn’t make the story up out of whole cloth.

In the same vein {😃 } when Joseph Stalin died, several high ranking Party members are said to have taken his body, & buried it at a crossroads, with a stake through his heart.

If you’re evil enough in life, you don’t need no bite…

Y’know, it’s really giving me a chuckle that among all these novelistic nitpickers, not one has commented that Igor only appears in the Universal movies. In the book, Frankenstein creates his creature alone.

Two words, people: “Inspired by”. Van Helsing is an homage to the classic horror movies of the 1930s. (Mr Hyde was probably thrown in because you can’t properly homage that era of film making without including the first horror movie to win a major Oscar for acting.)

In the 1931 Frankenstien, the assistant was named Fritz

> **[Frankenstein (1931) - IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021884/)**

> Frankenstein: Directed by James Whale. With Colin Clive, Mae Clarke, John Boles, Boris Karloff. Dr. Frankenstein dares to tamper with life and death by creating a human monster out of lifeless body parts.

(IIRC this is the earliest sound version)

I REALLY liked how Frankenstien’s Monster was done in this movie (well, mostly)
Created by evil, but not evil.

I had no problems with the canon, making up your own rules is fine by me.
Maybe you turn into a WW after the 1st full moon after you have been bitten. After that, anything goes.

One problem I had - that has to be the
\<comic book guy\>
slowest clock chime, EVER!
\</CBG\>

Also not quite sure how the machine crossbow gets recocked either.

But it was a fun popcorn flick, with more depth than most.

Carl the monk (“I’m only a friar”) played by David “Faramir” Wenham stole the show, but thats OK.

I haven’t seen it yet, but based on this thread it sounds like an attempt at **League of Extraordinary Monsters**. I don’t have a problem with that. And besides, I always liked **Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein**.
