We were minding our own business watching some show on Disney channel and this commercial for some Levis or some other brand of jeans comes on. They are showing some waist shots of these apparent hotties walking around town shaking their thangs when their belly buttons start singing. Now my daughter is about 2 years old and she was very frightened. She didnt know what the hell she was looking at. Ever since then whenever that commercial comes on, she comes running over to me in a panic, on the verge of tears, cause the bellies are singing. On top of that, the song that they were singing was some real junket of a tune. One of those ones that you hate when you first hear it, but then when you are sitting on the shitter, it jumps back into your head and is stuck their for a week. I should sue these people for terrorizing my kid. And me for that matter. Who dreams this stuff up? ---

It could have been worse. I won’t post the link in recognition of SDMB prohibitions on nudity, but do a google search for “singing penis”. Just imagine if she’d seen that. She’d be in therapy for life. ---

I have thankfully only seen that ad once. I am now scarred for life. Singing bellybuttons are just **WRONG**! They scared me too, and I’m 25. Eeek, that ad was freaky. ---

I hate that ad, and that song “we’re coming out…” WTF!! I also hate the new Old Navy ad for mini skirts “Less skirt, more leg, you gotta get this look.” They go on to say something about less skirt less money, yeah right $29.00 for a peice of cloth that goes from the bottom of the hips to the bottom (well almost bottom of the arse) Give me a break. …but they said I had to get that look. Running to Old navy right now. ---

I haven’t seen it, because I cancelled cable this spring. I am adding this to my list of many reasons why I’m grateful that I gave up TV. Just the mental image I’ve cobbled together from this thread is enough to scare me. \ ---

Actually I kind of like that commercial, maybe it’s because I’m easily titillated. The funny thing is, even though I’ve seen it at least 6 or 8 times, I always get confused in the beginning when I can’t figure out where the voices are coming from. I search vainly across the screen only to see actress after actress with lips unmoving. Finally my eyes travel low enough down the screen and blam! Singing bellybutton. Then the “what an idiot you are” conversation takes place in my head. Would have been funny once or twice, but now I am beginning to feel that I may have a real prejudice against bellybuttons. At least the singing kind. ---

My wife and I find that commercial Very Vaguely Creepy[sup]TM[/sup]. Also, that goddamn song is like Velcro on my brain. Get it off! OFF! _ **OFF, I SAY!** _ Trivia note: Know who’s singing the song? Jamie Lynn-Sigler, better known for playing Tony Soprano’s daughter Meadow. ---

I took a non-voluntary break from TV in January, and I have not seen this commerical. It sounds horrible! I did, however, see a commerical today (on a sports channel at the bar) that had a big black bear drinking beer with some Japanese gentlemen at a restaurant. In the next scene, they are all up singing karaoke. Very funny, but I wish I’d heard what was going on. Zette ---
