Yes - it’s a stretch. The Guardsmen: “Snoopy’s Christmas” The Red Baron gallantly refrains from shooting down Snoopy and even wishes him a Merry Christmas. ---

I don’t see that it makes much difference that the final sinking was directly caused by scuttling. Nobody scuttles a perfectly good warship: They only did so because they were getting pounded so badly that it was their only option. Hitting an enemy warship so hard that they’re forced to scuttle it is still a win. ---
