Situation in South Africa (Malema and Terre'blanche aftermath)

A lot higher than blacks in South Africa as well. Point taken.

The difference is that the murder rate for aboriginals in Canada is not inflicted by a racial majority, and thus the relative high rate is merely shrugged off.

That is excellent. Good on them.

My local paper (not a “tabloid”) is today reporting that Terreblanche was found with his pants around his ankles and a used condom, and that the defence is going to allege some sexual shennanigans. Me, I can see this two ways, also could be evidence of sexual assault by the murderers - but anyway, the plot thickens…

So?

Link to your alleged local paper, allegedly (not a “tabloid”).

At the very least we’ll be able to find out something about the type of paper you trust and believe in and help us all gain a further insight into your mentality.

Sew buttons on a banana peel…

It’s a fricking paper subscription, not a website. But you’re welcome to see for yourself. If you want to register, that is.

It’s the major late daily in my city, completely mainstream. Although how the hell you’d verify that from overseas, I have no idea. And what’s this “mentality” shit? You want to question my “mentality”, do it in the Pit.

Although the cops are saying no condom was found (but no refutation of the pants around ankles bit)

Mainstream? When the headline is puzzling over the gender of a little green character from a 28-year-old movie? Pull the other one, it’s got bells on.

“ET sex riddle”, for those who don’t want to visit the site.

The police have officially denied the story, That doesn’t mean it’s not true, of course.

Just to support **MrDibble **in this - the Cape Argus is one of two mainstream daily English language newspapers in Cape Town, the other being the Cape Times (although both are owned by the same parent company). Having said that, this is the weekend edition, which does tend toward the tabloid at times… and come to think of it, may in fact be an separate publication…

No, it’s the Cape Argus (Weekend Edition) - they share a website and alles.

Now, I can’t wait for* Die Son*'s headline on Monday. It’s the closest I come to that rag, but the flyers always make for a quick “WTF?”

I really had no idea that my post required a smiley.

For those interested, here’s an interesting and alarming (or alarmist?) profile of Malema.

Definitely alarmist. But pretty accurate for all that. Doesn’t mention that Malema’s been smacked down by Zuma just this weekend, of course.

Hey, how many South Africans does it take to change a light bulb?

Serious question, I have no idea any more.

http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/article410766.ece/Malema-off-the-hook-as-Zuma-makes-U-turn

So much for that.

If you look at, for example, the Julius Malema page on News24, there are articles, all published on the same day, claiming that Malema has been charged, that he hasn’t been charged yet, that he won’t be charged, and that he might be charged but it hasn’t been decided yet. So I don’t think the situation is settled just yet.

Seven. One who thinks that light bulbs don’t cure darkness because they were invented in the west, another who thinks you can fix a burnt-out lightbulb by putting it in the shower, a third to boast about the success of a “democracy” in which the next leader is handpicked by the last from within a single party, and four to lavish praise on the problem of how Robert Mugabe handled inequitable lightbulb distribution.

In the end, South Africans of all races begin to die off because there is no light, but as long as the ANC runs the country and continues to talk about how evil various long-dead pro-apartheid politicians were, they go to bed with millions of dollars, five wives, and endless self-satisfaction.

  1. Please give a cite to an example of South Africa rejecting technological advancement do to it’s “westerness”
  2. I don’t get the reference???
  3. Zuma was handpicked by Mbeki? I thought they hated each other?
  4. Who (besides Malema) is lavishing praise to Mugabe?

The end is near? Is the sky falling? Is the apocalypse coming? I have a hard time thinking that this isn’t some of that irrational, reactionary, alarmist stuff that keeps poping up in every South Africa thread. I need a deeper commentary.

Oh, I get it. Zuma’s shower after having sex with an HIV positive girl.

I think he’s talking about Motlanthe and Zuma, and also that the ANC is the only party that really has a chance of winning national elections.

First off: good work everyone! This thread has covered all the points i was planning to cover when I came here.

Secondly: Condescending robot let me help you out here.
If there is a problem that existed before 1994, that persists today then it IS the fault of Apartheid.
If progress that has been made since 1994 starts to slip (e.g. healthcare) then THAT is the fault of the ANC government.

Using this simple rule we can see that pretty much all of the things that are wrong with ZA at the moment are the fault of Apartheid: poverty, crime, education (so far, but keep an eye on it).

But there are several things that are the fault of the ANC government: healthcare, police service, cronyism and a few others.

I hope that was helpful

Also that Sowetan article is really good, I reckon everyone who has an interest should read it.
