# "Six", a must-see rock opera

We just got back from a performance of **Six** , a musical about the wives of Henry VIII. Very raucous, great choreography and songs, and very funny. If it comes to a venue near you, I highly recommend it.

Do you have a little more background about the writers and the production? First thing I thought about was Rick Wakeman’s 1973 album “The Six Wives Of Henry VIII”. Is there a connection?

None that I can see, aside from using modern rock music to give impressions of the six. The description of the creative process given in the Wikipedia page doesn’t mention Wakeman at all, and gives very different influences.

I’m a big fan of Wakeman’s piece – one of the first Rock albums I ever bought. But it’s not relevant here.
(By the way – Wakeman’s record is almost half a century old !)

We saw Six back when Broadway first opened back up after lockdown. It’s fantastic. Super fun, sort of… Light on historical accuracy, but heavy on messaging. Cannot cosign the recommendation more highly, it’s fully of catchy earworms that you will be singing for months afterwards.
