**Taters** , I’m totally borrowing that line next time. I mean, the guy actually said to me “in my head, I was picturing this when I was explaining it to you” when he came to complain about problems with a file. I suppose it all made sense to him, seeing as he had both halves of the equation, but it was the equivalent of him telling me he wanted a brunette with big lips, and then being pissed off because I didn’t hand him Angelina Jolie. Oy. The Subway Incident happened a little over a year ago. I try not to think about it too often… but considering I ride the subway at least twice a day, every day, it was bound to happen eventually (I heard from a reliable source that they usually have a couple of jumpers a week, some of which are more successful than others). Once in 25 years is pretty darn good. Flying cats scare me. A lot. ---

It’s impossible to ignore the Olympics here. People are way too invested in those medals. It’s a whole nationalistic thing. I find myself knowing what stuff we won even though I rarely go out of my way to find out. Anyway, back from faculty dinner. Some British dude ogled my feet and I think he might have even snapped a picture. :dubious: He said he didn’t usually care about feet but that mine inspired him. I -think- I should be flattered. Some other guy was drunk and obnoxious and harrassed a few of the girls. I think he kissed one of them. And some other British guy groped me while sharing my umbrella. Also, they made the newbies stand in line and finish a huge ass bowl of soju (Korean alcohol, around 17% I guess). I was in the middle of the line but the girl right before me drank a huge amount and my competitive nature asserted itself. :smack: We ended up finishing the bowl before it even got to the end of the line, so the last guy ended up downing half a bottle by himself. The girl before me in line and I were complimented many times on our supar soju drinking skillz. :smack: All in all, a typical night. :: hugs for **Smartie** :: ---

☹ I’m sorry for your loss. And mad as hell at my village, which still hasn’t called me back re the seepage in my gutter and curb, most likely coming from the buffalo box. Last time (years ago) when this happened, the guys insisted that it was our responsibility, but no plumber would touch (and plumbers seem to know where their money is). I called back and asked where I could get a copy of our municipal code–it’s online (yay). It’s there in black and white: homeowner from bb to house; village from bb to street. God knows what happens IF it’s the actual buffalo box. Ya know, I don’t LIKE having raw sewage in my gutter. Sorry to be closed minded on the subject and all… ---

{{{ **Smartie** }}} I just finished some clay play. Man, talk about being out of practice! :eek: I’m embarrassed by my efforts, sorta. I threw the bodies of 4 mugs - gonna do variations on my 2 caffeine mug designs. I also made two cat dishes that are going to have little kittie ears on them and whiskers painted in the bottom, plus a large bowl that I elongated at the mouth after throwing and another that’ll probably be a planter - it needs a saucer. I’m way out of practice - good thing I didn’t want to make animals today. \*\*FCD \*\* didn’t get out early - in fact, I don’t know if he’s left work at all. He didn’t leave a message and I didn’t hear the phone when I was downstairs. It’d be just like them to keep him late. What’s with those places that tell you to leave when you give your 2 weeks notice? He’s \*never \* had that happen - they latch on till the last possible second. Oh well. It’s clouding over - methinks rain is on the way by the look of the sky and the weather radar loop. Cool sleeping again tonight - yay! ---

I’m through work for the week so it’s weekend time. Anywho, I reached for the beerverage, looked at it, thought “Nah” and put it back! :eek: I said y’all would be shocked. 😃 Sloppy Joes, oven baked fries and sallit for dindin tonight. Perhaps that will inspire beerverage drinkage. ---

I’m so sorry **Smartie.** I teared up reading what you wrote. She was a beautiful dog and so very obviously loved. We had breakfast with some friends, came home, ran off to the hardware store, and are fixing to start working on our fubarred gate. The beers are sitting in our fridge as I write this. It’s 94 freakin’ degrees out; in other words, it’s hot as a mofo. Cripes, days like this make me with for AC in the house. We plan on going to the movies tonight to see Hancock. I hope it’s as funny as it looks. ---

I can’t completely ignore the Olympics because I was in Mexico during the Olympics in 1968 and was therefore indoctrinated early. Also, since my brother is a serious runner, track and field are normal things to watch. But, I really dislike NBC’s coverage, so I limit my watching (and have learned to watch without sound). Updated my sig to add **rosie** and **Rebo**. **Mama Tigs** would you like to take September 1 to catch us up on your trip? Next available after the first is September 22. I’m thinking I might make baked potato wedges. Guess I should go cut up one of my potatoes. And maybe a cucumber and tomato salad. Yummm. Very happy that it’s Friday. No word from the village’s public works department. Men paid to lean on shovels, as far as I can tell. Grrrrr. Made a hair appt for next week, the day prior to my deposition. I might as well look good while I get beaten up by lawyers, no? Dinner is in the oven and smelling good. I made whole wheat choc chip cookies today–they’re good! I also cut the front lawn and cleaned out a drawer. I didn’t want to overdo and do 2 drawers. I mean, there are limits. ---
