The only Mumper I’ve met is the now-departed **mika**. (Come back soon, meeks!) But we had a Dopefest here last fall, and I met a bunch of dopers… I’m not even going to try to name them all. And, of course, my husband is an ex-doper (now a lurker). That sucks about the financial aid situation, **spaz**. I hope with strength in numbers you can get it straightened out. Sorry you didn’t get to sic the cleaning lady, **bobbio**. And it sucks that she’s sick now. Hope that all gets straightened out. Or maybe the new cleaning lady will be even better! I’m all grumpy today and I don’t really know why. More caffeine would probably help, but the swill they call coffee here is not drinkable. So… I’m just going to be grumpy. ---

Welcome to our newest Mumper, **ShelliBean**! You need a nickname. Hmm… I forgot to tell y’all about my insect slaying this morning. I got out of the shower, and reached for my towel. As I was drying off, I noticed about ten gajillion ants coming out of the closet door (where I hang my towel!) They were crawling all along the wall, around the corner, and down into a crack in the baseboard. I freaked and thought they might be in my towel, but they weren’t. :eek: So I wrap up in the towel and go to the garage looking for ant spray. We don’t have any. So I got a small spray bottle of bleach and sprayed their exit. That stopped 'em in their tracks! I followed the other end and it went into my closet, thankfully not near my clothes. I didn’t want to spray bleach in there, so I got a cotton ball and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. (I’ve heard if you kill the trail they will be confused.) Then I let them form a big milling mass down by the floor crack, and hit 'em with the bleach again! Death to ants! I won. 😃 ---

Howdy, all. Miss me? Yeah, I missed me, too. In the Mumpers I’ve met column, there’s of course **FCM** , and then there was a whole bunch at both the MADDopefest at the gardens in Baltimore and then Gettysdope last year, so I’m not sure who’s a Mumper and who’s not. But I’ve met a whole bunch, albeit briefly. As for why I’ve not been here? First I was overtired and overworked. Then I was really sick. Then I was sick AND overworked. Now I’m just back to overworked, but as of today I think I’m _finally_ starting to feel human again. Papa Tigs brought home a truly nasty bug that for him turned into mostly an infected head with a bit of chest involvement but for me turned into an infected chest with a bit of head involvement. For him it’ll be two weeks sick as of tomorrow, and for me it’s been ten days. A very, very miserable ten days. The worst of which were spent with Papa Tigs off at a conference – in a hotel not 2 miles from where he works, but might as well have been across the country for all the good it did me. And either Rusty got sick or went on strike while Papa Tigs was gone and refused to eat at _all_ for four days, so at that point I was sick _and_ worried. _And_ had too much work but was too sick to do it. And then since he got home, Papa Tigs and I have both been on antibiotics for a few days for the infections, but still have had massive clearing out to do. So it’s been a less than fun time. Anyway, today’s the first day I didn’t cough my guts out upon awakening. So in that vein, although I still don’t have anything like a voice enabling me to sing, I will instead croak: **Happy birthday, Dotty!** You’ve been there a whole year, **snowbunny**? Aaugh, I’m getting old, it _can’t_ have been that long! :eek: Anyway, I just wanted to pop by and explain my absence. I’ll probably be absent again for at least a few more days because I’m so far behind with work it’s not even funny. And I still only have about 30% of my normal energy. But I’m alive. More deponent sayeth not. 😉 ---

Just as soon as he can hang onto anything he’ll be in a swing. Not yet, though. I am sad because Mr. Anachi remembered our anniversary, which was Sunday, and I did not. ☹ It’s not like I don’t remember the date, and even think about it in advance, but for some reason I’ve forgotten it at least twice. Poor guy!!! ☹ Yesterday was gorgeous and Lil Lestat and his girlfriend came over with their two weimeraners and we all went swimming in the pool. You don’t know fun until you get hit with a belly-flopping 60-lb dog. 😛 Anybody else watch the opening of the Olympics? I have to say I was Impressed! Drat drat drat. Other Quasi-Daughter wants to know if they can bring their large, bouncy, licky dog this weekend. Nat has to get used to dogs, their dog has to get used to babies (she’s due in November), but… seriously. Last time I saw him every part of me was licked. I do _not_ want every part of my incautious baby licked, especially since baby’s instinct now is to grab and pull. And their dog is allowed on all furniture and is allowed to lick their mouths. And Mittens and Slippers will have fits. The cautious side of me is at war with the let-it-go side. Oh, I meant to say, in the last MMP, **Mahna** , tell your dad you’d love to come but you can’t. Thanksgiving. Go see your Mom. ---

Good morning my Mumpers. Lessee, the Mumpers I’ve met are: **FCM Swampy Bumbazine Bumbawife Picunurse welby welbywife** I met several other Dopers at Swampfest, but I’d forget to name at least one of them, so I won’t list them all. I have to go back and read last week’s MMP. Between our trip to Oregon and then our weekend trip, I haven’t had a chance to catch up. Our weekend trip was very nice. I think we paid a bit much for our accomodations, but on the other hand we were right on the beach. I took lots of lovely pictures of both trips, but have yet to put them on the computer. Hippo Birdie, Dotty!!! **SmartyPants** , those are some very very nice photos of the entire furry family. You’ve got yourself some really good lookin’ furrballs. 🙂 **LiLi** , you’d be surprised how tolerant most dogs can be of grabby-pully small children. Given your description, he sounds like a pretty happy-go-lucky pup, so he’ll probably just stand there and suffer stoically. Or then again, he might lick Nat to pieces before drowning him in a puddle of doggy drool. Either way, doesn’t sound like there’s a risk of injuries for either party. The cats would never forgive you, though.
