# Skald, please, please tell me I'm very, very wrong

This dude Skald the Rhymer did not have testicular cancer. He was a liar. He had no diseases at all. I had seen him at Free and Clear, my blood parasite group Thursdays. Then at Hope, my bi-monthly sickle cell circle. And again at Seize the Day, my tuberculous Friday night. Skald… the big tourist. His lie reflected my lie. Suddenly, I felt nothing. I couldn’t cry, so once again I couldn’t sleep.

Just when the Dope seems prepared to topple from the combined weight of its own ignorance and frivolity, an OP like this comes along with a deduction so logical, an argument so reasonable, that one simply can’t argue with it. In fact, there’s truly nothing one could say to this dizzying example of towering intellect. When I think of the time I’ve wasted studying the greatest philosophers who ever lived, when all along **Laudenum** walked in our midst, I am truly ashamed. Some people would decry the current state of education, arguing that critical thinking skills have been snuffed out in a wave of standardized tests and incongruous goals, but to these people, I say, _look here_. For surely, surely, as long as we have this giant among men, this beautiful mind, we have nothing to fear.
Please, **Laudenum** , enlighten us. Don’t hide that light from the world. Let it shine down on all of us so that we too can reach great truths from so little information. Vague allusions, unsupported accusations, and random things posted on message boards shouldn’t be obstacles to understanding, but should instead lead to rock solid evidence that requires, nay _demands_, a defense from the accused.

Did you miss the bit where I acknowledged in the OP that it was a hell of a leap?
I fully acknowledged that I had very little to go on in the OP; are you really that desperate to appear superior to _someone_?
Look toots, the idea occured to me, it wouldn’t leave my head because the idea of someone posing as a rape victim in a rape support group really, really disturbs me, and I just had to ask.

Acknowledging that your OP is stupid doesn’t actually mean you get a free pass on posting it. If you “know” it’s a leap, why post it in the Pit? Why not PM him as others have suggested? How did you think this would play out exactly? Because I really, really can’t imagine you would get a response from Skald either way (because questions this remarkably idiotic don’t deserve to be answered), let alone accolades and encouragement from the peanut gallery for your remarkable ability to leap to conclusions.
Due to this thread, we’ve learned nothing about Skald and his support groups (which, by the way, it’s poor form to demand an explanation for what support groups a person attends. Not very sporting at all). We have, however, learned that even though you have the brain power necessary to think “this OP is stupid” you lack the ability to go to the next logical step, ie, “posting this will make me look stupid.”

Grief support groups
Infertility support groups
Inflammatory Bowel Disease support groups
Mood disorder/spouses of those suffering mood disorders support groups
Sexual abuse survivor support groups
Suicide prevention support groups
Etc., etc.
Support groups that are an appropriate topic to publicly demand answers about:

I contend that “monomanic” ought to be a word if it isn’t, but you may substitute “monomaniacal” and give me a frowny-face sticker for the day, if it helps relieve your chafing.
