Starting a hypothetical opinion thread with an easily understood and descriptive title in IMHO was a shitty act, no doubt. But when **Skald** put a gun to your head and forced you to read it…that was beyond the pale.

**Even Seven** ,
The Dope is a strange place with it’s own culture and unwritten rules. It’s usually best to try to stay out of controveries here until you get a good feel for the place.
Skald is…_ **Skald** _. He’s been around a while, he posts a lot of hypotheticals and other odd shit, and he’s been pitted a couple of times for it. Saying he’s annoying is simply a personal opinion that really isn’t all that pit worthy unless you have more to say about it. Posting a link to a thread without further explanation (and no, I’m not going to read the whole thing to try to sort out why you might think that way) isn’t the best use of anyone’s time.

To be fair, he said himself that if anyone was bothered by his thread, they should go to the Pit. So I did.
I respected the thread per se and didn’t shit in it.

Yeah, he’s basically intolerable. (and no, I don’t read his threads. no need to tell me not to.)
But one thing you’re too new to know yet is that a lot of Dopers find unfunny things uproariously hilarious.
Once you learn all the in jokes, you’ll understand what I mean.

I guess I don’t know the in jokes as I have no idea what this means. I don’t usually find **Skald** hilarious, just interesting.

Just because \*\*Skald \*\*suggested that you go to the Pit, doesn’t mean you \*have \*to, dear.
Goodness, what would you have done if he told you to jump off of a bridge?
Despite my firm opinion that your stay here will be fairly short, I do feel obliged to inform you that it will most likely be longer if you can find it in your heart to simply ignore anything that fits any of the following categories:
1. you find any of the following to incite fits of rage: the topic/the poster/the writing/ the composition style
2. you feel that you are either missing a joke, or that the humor involved is juvenile/peurile/any sort of -ist or -ism, or any other category that you take umbrage at or which induces any variation of the response that you are “above that sort of thing.”
3. you disagree with the premise of the thread or the opinions of the OP or the majority of the posters in that thread (might be worthwhile to look up “someone is wrong on the internet” for reference).
