Well, work is done unless/until I consider a Round 2 in August. I got a rare treat and honor tonight. I asked for the special assignment as I planned and got it. Here, about a half hour into my shift, I see the building manager walking towards me pulling on a pair of gloves. Now this is the Biggest Boss under our roof so this is NOT totally usual. She comes up and asks if she can scan with me for a while. Yeah - like I’m going to say no. We worked more than talked but as we moved around we remembered all the adventures past from when the building opened (just before I got hired) to today. It was a nice touch and she stuck around about 30 minutes. She’s worked lines before but never as far as anyone knows just to say goodbye to someone leaving. The usual thing is someone just disappears and is gone. Made me feel kinda special. Oh well, tomorrow packing for Cook Forest and just after we get back from that packing for CoasterCon. But a little place in my heart and mind will be thinking about the center and hoping I get back. God and HR (the opposite of God in my humble opinion) willing. ---

I’m posting from our backup laptop - Firefox was all screwed up on my computer, and now it’s taking forever to install a couple of updates and reboot. I have a bad feeling about this… But I’ll let it continue unabated. I hope I don’t lose all my bookmarks and passwords - that would suck mightily! It’s a glorious 62° and not humid at the moment. I figure about 8 or so it’ll be safe enough to fire up the mower without disturbing anyone. I’ve also got some towels in the washer. I threw the dirty bath towels on the floor yesterday and last night, a certain feline decided they were there to be peed upon. Idiot cat. So they’ll go out on the line in a bit. And today is when the gutter cleaners come - YAY! It needs to be done and I refuse to let **FCD** go up there. And I certainly ain’t climbing on the roof. This is most definitely the case of the perfect tool for the job being the checkbook! Onward!! Happy Wednesday!! ---

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. It rained fairly steady through much of yestiddy evenin’ which we needed. Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Happy Hump Day Y’all! ---

Props to Mozilla for their very helpful pages - I’ve managed to restore all of my bookmarks and passwords after somehow screwing up my Firefox. So huzzah! I’d have been hurting if I’d had to restore everything myself. I’ve got the towels hanging out and in half an hour or so, I’ll don some grubbies and commence to mowing. rah. It shouldn’t take more than an hour to do the push mowing, then maybe another hour to ride around on ol’ John Deere, followed by some whacking. By then, it’ll be warming up and I’ll be ready for a shower. Good times… ---

Thanks, all. On a lighter note, I saw a local news headline today that reads, “Former shepherd hopes to bring ‘lawnmower sheep’ to Montreal.” Lawnmower Sheep = band name. ---

The cut bits just recycle themselves back into the lawn. My figgerin’ was about right - 2 hours to do the push mowing, the rider mowing, and the edge whacking. It would have been quicker, but I had to stop several times to pick up big branches that had fallen, plus along the strip between our fence and the road, damned passersby left me a variety of trash - a soda bottle, a paper plate, a snack bag, and a black sock. Apparently there’s a sign invisible to me that says “TRASH DUMP.” Some people are pigs. And I figgered out what bit me the other day - it wasn’t skeeters, it was black flies. Not sure if that’s their official designation, but they were flies and they were black and they bit. I whacked one that landed on my hand, and I think I escaped being bitten today. So now I’m showered and dressed and waiting for the gutter cleaners to arrive. Oh, and **Mr. Swampington**!!!
