I’m hourglass shaped and don’t mind that the style makes my hips look bigger- I like my hips and it’s not like I look like I’m a size 4 in flare jeans either.

OK, you don’t know me and I swear I am not a total jerk but I remember this old thread (because I hate pants with any kind of flare). I can’t help but mention it if only to point out that fashions _always_ come back around. Once everyone starts mocking some type of clothing it means it is about to come back in style…

Personally I like skinny jeans but what I like even more is to let people wear whatever they want and not worry about it.

High waisted jeans are due to be the next big thing.

I see lots of women and men in Wicker Park / Bucktown area of Chicago and they are all under 24 and young and it looks good on them. But then again, pretty much anything looks good on you when your young.

It’s like any style, it doens’t look good on everyone.

That is a bit odd that you remembered that. . . Really weird. . .

Well, it’s true, I used to be like many of the folks in this thread. Then I actually got off my fat ass and tried some jeans on by my favorite brand. Turns out, I didn’t look nearly as ice creamy cone-like as I had thought I would in my head. And they are damned handy for boots, like I said. I fought the skinny jeans trend for a long time (they’ve been “back” for a while now), but once I gave in, I realized the world of skinny jeans was not as bleak as everyone had made me think.

That said, high waisted jeans were back about a year ago. I think last fall, if I’m remember correctly.

I like them a lot, and I look good in them, but then, I have the body described by **even sven** and **Tangent** –thin, narrow hips, long legs (proportionate to my body–I’m pretty short but with relatively long legs). And my skinny black jeans (well, they’re kind of like jeggings) look really awesome.

If they are really skinny jeans, if you can wear them, then go for it.

People who are fat can wear tight-fitting jeans, but those are not skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are, well, skinny. They shouldn’t be skin-tight.

I love them. I have a short torso/long legs, and when worn with a mid-thigh tunic this is what I consider my ideal look. Very comfortable.

I also like leggings. What the hell; I also like leg warmers. Just for the warmth, I mean.

ETA: By “if you can wear them” I mean, if you can get into them.

What do you wear them with, though? I don’t think skinny jeans look good on anyone around the waist/hips area - they make you look too thin or too fat. I live near Hoxton, skinnyjean central, and I’ve seen hundreds of women wearing them; the top half of the jeans always looks wrong on the very rare occasions I’ve seen that top half - usually there’s a long t-shirt, jumper or something covering it; the two fashions go together.

The lower thigh and calf looks fantastic and fits really well in boots.

Whatever shape you are, if you wear skinny jeans, you have to wear them well. They are basically like leggings, which you wouldn’t wear without a top that covered your waistline and a bit below. Unless you were on the cast of Fame.

Actually, even they wouldn’t have worn skinny jeans with a crop top, because the material makes it stand out from the body, so exposing either bum-cleavage or fat. They might have worn jeggings.

I’d like to get some skinny jeans to wear with my lovely new boots but can’t actually find any. 😕

I think jeans tucked into boots look stupid also unless you are a Civil War cavalry officer. Mark me down with hate for skinny jeans - I see young skinny college girls in them all the time and I just don’t think they look flattering. It’s an ugly look. And the guys who raid their girlfriends’ closets do not improve it.

Get thee to G-Star - I’ve got a great black pair that I wear tucked into Paul Smith/Triumph biker boots. My girlfriend finds that very swoony.

It does help that I’ve got fairly long, slim legs, with a ‘gap’ between my thighs. Yes, I’m boasting, it’s by far my best feature. The waistline, not so much.

I don’t find skinnies particularly comfortable, mind you. Low rise boot cut are for comfort, and probably the most universally flattering for most women.

The tops of my skinny jeans are literally no different than my regular, bootcut jeans. I get the exact same brand and everything. The waist is cut exactly the same, the ass is cut exactly the same and the hips are exactly the same. Perhaps this is because I wear my jeans tight (they fit, there are no rolls, just tight), but there you go. Because I’m usually wearing over the knee boots with the jeans tucked into them, lately I’ve been doing sweaters or shirts that go down to my crotch (I treat the skinnies as I would leggings, basically), but I’ve worn them with “regular” shirts, too. For example, I wear things like [this (without the fur vest, I dislike fur vests)](http://www.polyvore.com/1128_celeb_style_khlo%C3%A9_kardashian/set?id=23648364) or [like this](http://www.polyvore.com/kim/set?id=15878631) (both are examples of casual ways I wear skinny jeans and boots on the day to day). I wont lie, though- sometimes I wear the skinnies without boots and that’s entirely due to the “bootie” trend of late- so sometimes I wear something like [this.](http://www.polyvore.com/kim_kardashian/set?id=21104928)

I’ve also never been told I look like a Civil War Calvary officer, but I’ll keep that in mind, I suppose.

I was just kidding. I don’t think it makes you look like you’re in a Civil War Cavalry when tucking skinny jeans into boots. Hell, I do it sometimes. So that’s how I wear my boots, or with skirts, or sometimes under my jeans. That Civil War comment was just funny as hell, is all.

I’m a slightly-chubby normal sized woman who really doesn’t care about dressing to impress any more. I wear any of my plain old jeans when I leave the house, as long as they’re comfortable and don’t drag on the ground. And I take pains to wear a top long enough to cover up my belly and booty. But even if I had the figure for it…there’s something sick and misogynistic about skinny jeans. It’s like the drug addicts, the size zero fashionistas of the world banded together to invent these and say “hey, fat asses! THIS is FASHION, and it’s not for YOU! If you aren’t starving, on hard drugs, and throwing up three times a day, you aren’t worthy of this edgy fashion and might as well buy hot pink Quacker Factory separates, you fat hogs!” My daughter is 20 something, is naturally thin as a strand of linguini , and she hates jeans, period. She wears dresses and skirts, even in winter.

I guess I can get into that look, with the super-tall, high-heeled boots and longer shirts, where you’re really only seeing the thighs of the skinny jeans. But usually, I see women (and overweight teenagers) wearing them with sneakers or flats, showing the whole leg, and I don’t think I’ve ever, ever seen a woman wearing that style and thought “that looks good on her.”

I’m curvy and short, and wouldn’t be caught dead in a pair.

You wear them under pants because then when you sit down and cross your legs there’s a tantalizing bit of fabulous boot poking out the bottom.

I have some really amazing pairs of boots and they never fail to get noticed with skirts or under pants.

FWIW - I don’t have a pair of over the knee boots - I’m much too old and would look absurd. Actually, I suspect I would just look like I was trying WAAAAAAY too hard - I’ll leave that look to you young ones.

And I admit, the Kardashians in your links do look decent in their jeans and they’re both pretty curvy. However, I also think they’re both about…24.

[This](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Venus_de_Lespugue_%28replica%29.jpg)is how I feel in skinny jeans.

Now, in reality, I’m about the same shape as Ms. Hendricks, albeit at least 50 pounds heavier. Still got the waist to hip ratio of 0.7, but it’s not a small circumference on either number. Curves, we’re talking, curves. With everything in nice proportion, but…curves. Skinny jeans aren’t just skinny, they’re straight. And taking these curves and putting them into straight seams is like…well, like putting a round peg in a square hole!

And what I end up with, even if there is enough fabric to go around, is these absurdly small looking feet that look like they should be driven into the ground underneath my weight.

Boots solve this problem, sure. Now, finding boots that fit my calves, that’s another story! Again, it’s the curves. I need boots about 1/2 inch wider on top, and an inch to an inch and a half narrower at the ankle, than they’re commonly made in my size.

I firmly believe everyone should wear what makes them comfortable. I’m not comfortable, physically or mentally, in skinny jeans.

> [@Nicest\_of\_the\_Damned](#):
>
> High waisted jeans are due to be the next big thing.

This would make me so very, very happy. I think they do wonderful things to the ass, and they’re so much more comfortable for my tummy curves. Low waisted jeans cut me in half when I sit down and hurt a lot. To get a waist small enough to not gap, it’s small enough to literally adversely affect my digestion when I’m sitting (ie. I get cramps and gas pains because my intestines are squished and things don’t flow right through them.) Stretch denim helps, but a better cut that put the waist at the part of me that doesn’t increase in diameter when I sit would help more.
