Eh? That sounds lame lame lame to me. I mean aside from screaming “gimmick” it also just seems really stupid. I’d have rolled my eyes and stayed sitting down, myself

You’re right, \*\* OpalCat \*\*, that stunt was lame as hell. Nobody went ‘CRAZY’ at the philly show at least.

Rolling Stone hasn’t mean seriously about music criticism for at least ten years, probably much more. CMJ, NME, MelodyMaker, etc. etc. are trustworthy, Rolling Stone’s demographic is middle-class kids with plenty of money to spend and not enough energy to rebel against what they’re being spoon-fed.

Hear, hear! R.E.M.‘s wretched album “Up” somehow got four stars out of _Rolling Stone_’s Ann Powers. But when Rob Sheffield reviewed “Reveal,” suddenly “Up” became a “sour, parched affair.” Of course, Sheffield is the goombah who described Britney Spears’ desecration of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” as “brilliant,” so he doesn’t seem to be much smarter.

It doesnt matter who u are or how old u r, music tastes will differ from person to person, generation to generation.
In the 70’s hippy music and the beatles(although beatles still rock) were the go, today its techno and hard rock which are awesome.
Slipknot are good but i can see why older people would rather Kiss and Bruce Springsteen.
Not saying that they are bad but saying they are a different taste.

**atarian:** Re the Music Press–I guess they have to make each review sound different. When you’ve got a load of rock singles on your desk you probably run out of ideas quite quickly.

I get an NME most weeks. I wish they’d stop wanking over _The Vines_ though. They’re not the next Nirvana and the singer’s crap. Slipknot are alright but not realy my scene–I don’t have a problem with people liking them.
**OpalCat:** Isn’t that review from the fundie site [family.org](http://family.org)? Not what I’d call a good source of definitive music advice–good for a laugh though!

Yeah and New Kids on the Block sucked as well, but they sold millions of albums, so someone likes them. I can only hope that my band ‘sells out’, and sells a fraction of the albums SlipKnot has moved.

You don’t like their music, try MEETING them. I did that a few years ago. They were actually quite pleasant to me. Except for Klown who tried to stab me with his pen. Joey said he liked my bracelets.

But anyways, they were nice, I’ve gone off their music completely over the last few years. I’ve gotten to that ripe old age where if I hear any “loud” music, I must turn it down as it’s “giving me a bleedin’ headache!”

I’m only 19. But seriously the “music” these days is just atrocious.

I was listening to the John Peel show a while back and heard a song by a band called Half Man Half Biscuit. Sung to the tune of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, the words went something like this:\*

"The singer guy from Slipknot went to Rome to see the Pope
The singer guy from Slipknot went to Rome to see the Pope
The singer guy from Slipknow went to Rome to see the Pope
And the Pope had this to say:

Who the bloody hell is Slip-knot?
Who the bloody hell is Slip-knot?"

etc. etc.
\*I hope I’m not violating the “no complete lyrics” rule, but there wasn’t much to the song.
