# slow sdmb

Is anyone else seeing major slowness on the sdmb during the day? It doesn’t seem to be network congestion, since I can get fast responses for things which don’t actually look up messages (such as [http://boards.straightdope.com/](http://boards.straightdope.com/), which quickly responds with a 302 redirect to [http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/), which also loads very quickly, all while another connection waits for showthread.php to load an article in several minutes’ time).

Is the server just overloaded? Am I helping anyone by pointing this out?
