Small(er) museums

Pretty pathetic of me. I was in San Diego for 3+ years and I was at most of the museums by the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa park.
I definately don’t remember the Timken Gallery.

Don’t beat yourself up about it. I went to college in San Diego, and visited the Park fairly frequently, but I didn’t discover the Timken until my second year. There aren’t a lot of signs, and many people passing by might not realize that it actually is a museum.

There’s the Pacific Coast Air Museum, only a few miles from where I live, at the county airport. Quiet, out of the way little place, can’t be larger than a few of good-sized surburban backyards…

…With 15 jet fighters, and a few other aircraft. Walk right up to 'em, touch 'em, even climb aboard one of them each month.

Hell, that reminds me, the F-14 and F-16 are open this weekend! Gotta run…

The D’Arcy collection is a very nice small collection. I used to visit it when I attended Loyola.

Not a museum as such, but the smallish sacristy of Toledo cathedral just happens to contain a dozen or more El Grecos, plus works by Titian, Van Dyke and Goya.

My single favorite art museum. Good call.
