I thought I had tossed most of the old floppies. Just a handful of emergency disks for the older stuff. But Sunday I came across a box full of them.* Lots of classic software: WP for Windows 6.1, two copies of Windows 3.1, etc. Chucked. But a few with copies of some classic stuff that I wanted. So, I copied and tossed them.
Unfortunately…
-
In a box of ~40 disks maybe 6 weren’t empty but nothing on the label. I had to go and check each one. Won’t ever forget to label a floppy again!
-
Another handful of disks were formatted and written using fdformat. It put 1.72Mb on a disk. Can’t read them. Not sure it would be worth it to set up something so I could.
But, a standard size shopping bag of floppies is in the can at the curb and the truck is down the street. (Along with a bunch of cables, toner cartridges and crap.) Progress.
- This box was right next to where there had been a box of floppies that I went thru and chucked a while back. But somehow I didn’t see them at the time. Maybe my old crap is multiplying on me or playing hide-and-seek.
