It may not be a perfect correlation, but shows that are almost completely confined to a single set tend to be “three-camera” or “multi-camera” shows, often shot in front of a live studio audience, as opposed to single-camera shows.
I don’t think they’re necessarily any smarter, on the whole, but they may well be written differently: more like a stage play, less like a screenplay.
