Smart Women Have Curves, and Hopefully Chocolate Beer!

Ummm, being a curvy woman myself, am I the only one who read the synopsis and assumed it was cause nerdy girls just tend to be larger, in general, cause they are less social and therefore feel less pressure to be thin? Or perhaps that girls predisposed to being larger tend to become more bookish because they’re socially less accepted? Anyways, regardless, that seems more likely than the actual fat causing the intelligence.

Boy, next you’ll be telling me that it’s not true that pulling the legs off a trained grasshopper makes it go deaf!

What are you talking about, CalMeacham???

Of COURSE pulling the legs off a trained grasshopper makes it go deaf . . .

I guess I’ll pack my daughter up for the short bus. I’ve always been underweight, then again,so has she, we are both doomed. Maybe I should have let my husband carry her…

I would like to know whether the researchers have actually measured the fat content of the women in the study. My hips and thighs are mostly bone and muscle, yet everybody who sees those curves (with the wonderful exception of seamstresses) thinks “fat”.

Wide hips doesn’t necessarily imply a higher fat content, or a different composition for the fat stored. Unless these have been measured, the researchers are shooting blind.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that, and well, I’m not complaining – I like my waist-hip ratio. Its the curves higher up dissapearing that I’m concerned about…

So how you doin’

See private message.

Unless this is a whoosh.

Or, smarter women are more likely to reject fads toward rail-thinness because trying to get that skinny when you aren’t naturally is stupid?

Although, yeah, I imagine waist to hip ratio is hard to change through weight loss. From size 6 through size 24, my hips have always been about 1.5 sizes bigger than my waist.

I’m up for starting a batch myself. Let me know when you get started and maybe we can trade a bottle?

It’ll be several months before I attempt exotic flavors; I’m starting my very first batch on Sunday.

Meanwhile, I (speaking on behalf of much of the Dope) would like cites on the various posters’ claims of their body style, intelligence, and chocoholicness. (Is that a word)?

IOW: How you doing?

Waist-Hip ratio of .7 for women and .9 for men is ideal for health. Wikipedia entry, and a w-h ratio calculator.

Only the “I” and the “Q”, apparently.
