Any non-food citrus item (I’m thinking cleaning products). Any strong perfume or cologne, especially “musk-flavored.” And the coffee house smell. There’s this wannabe cool bookstore/coffee house in my town that I go to a lot because they have a great selection of books, but sometimes the awful smell that permeates that place makes me want to gag. Also, I’ve noticed that the Army has its own peculiar and unpleasant scent. ---

Oh, and I think Christmas stinks. Literally. Something about the smell of Christmas trees and all those sweets and giftwrap (yes, it has a smell) and those damn sweaters everybody wears and old people who have had too much to drink . . . I don’t know why, but I can’t stand the smell of most people’s houses around Christmas. _shiver_ It’s worse up north, where I’m from, but I don’t know why. ---

Verrry interesting. I’m an aromatherapist so smells are my life. And there are bunches I can’t stand. Synthetic fragrance oils, which are what makes up most perfumes and colognes. Sorry – headache city. Crappy potpourri, candle stuff, you name it. Blech. I make my own stuff now thanks very much. With stuff that doesn’t make me want to barf. Tuna fish. Cooking pork products, esp. ham and beans. I’m a vegetarian, too. Banana anything. Barfo. Hate the taste, too. And blueberries. I am okay with patchouli, but prefer sandalwood. I make and sell aromatherapy soap and patchouli is my best seller. But some people hate it. To each his own. ---

Just thought of another couple. That mixture of cigerette smoke, BO, sweaty socks and God knows what else that’s pretty common in single guy’s bedrooms or in army barracks. I live close to a school and when I catch my bus in the mornings a large group of schoolgirls get off of it. The smell they leave on the bus is just awful - a gagging mixture of sweat, make up and body spray. ---

Raw, cooking or cooked meat. I’m not a vegetarian [and I doubt I could ever be] but the smell of meat literally makes me gag. ---

Meat, particularily bacon and other pork. Melted cheese (except pizza.) - Cheddar in particular, wine, especially on other people’s breath. Cigarette smoke, but I don’t think many non-smokers like it (I absolutely detest it - worst smell around). That’s all i can think of at the moment. ---

another (I count four) for Patchoulli. and I was around in the 60/s 70/s My ex loved it. I hated it. Gave me a headache at least. ---

Patchouli, and most insence. I also hate vanilla stuff, candles, soaps and stuff. Real vanilla is fantastic, but fake vanilla is gross. ---

Garlic. On people’s breath, especially, but also in food. Ick. I don’t like the way it tastes, either, unless it’s whole cloves roasted with olive oil. Raw onions are also foul. “Old lady perfumes”–Red Door, Opium, etc. For the longest time I thought all these old ladies just had an unfortunate condition that made them stink, but then I realized they did it on purpose. ---

Y’know, I just hate the taste of freshly hawked phegm. :o ack. Also, I hate the smell of those people with bad breath…not just the ones who don’t brush their teeth often, but the ones with that oral disease that makes them smell like cigar smoke… :o :o hwooo-u-u-uggg OOO, OOO, I just thought of another gross mouthful! Locker room. I have friends that get all nostalgic when they enter a locker room stinking of sweat, strong soap, dirty clothing, used jock straps and stinky sneakers. I hate it. ---

Oranges. I can’t imagine how anybody could possibly stand to _eat_ these disgusting things. Air fresheners. And they’re supposed to make things smell _better?_ Scented candles. Seeabove comment. ---

Ginger. It makes me heave. It’s especially bad around Christmas, when you have ginger cookies, and those holiday candles that smell like ginger. It’s even worse when it’s combined with cloves, it’s like a one-two punch. I like the smell of cinnamon, but I look like a lunatic when I smell it. It’s so often combined with ginger and/or cloves that I have to sniff it very carefully before I commit to enjoying it. ---

drakar noir. somewhere along the lines, I got it in my head that it has an underlying scent of armpits and BO in general. Artificial strawberry.
