As said upthread, it’s single mother, not Southie mother. But are you describing a real conversation you had with your ten-year-old? Or are you imagining a father giving that answer to his ten-year-old?

There’s a new series on Showtime called _SMILF_. It features Frankie Shaw as the lead, as well as the writer and director. Shaw plays Bridgette, a single woman with a young child, and centers around the difficulties in her dating life.

Personally, I am shocked, shocked, that a Showtime sitcom is lewd in its depictions of relationships and old-fashioned in its gender stereotypes.

I think the term MILF at this point, despite the obvious inclusion of the word “fuck” and definition of the acronym, is fairly de-sexualized and commonplace that it’s lost all of it’s edgy/offensiveness. Then S = single. The obvious implication of the title “SMILF” to me is that it’s about the life of a single mom, perhaps focused on dating (not necessarily in a sexually focused way). FWIW I had heard of this before and didn’t even know it was a show, mostly because I had familiarized myself with the biography of actor Mark Weber. I knew that his ex (the creator of the show and mom of his kid) had made a short film but didn’t realize it was developed into a TV series.
