Smug Voters?

Nothing like being smugly above the smugness of others to bust the Ironometer.

Well, if I’m too good for it all, what the Hell do you want me to do? Change??? Be like…them?

I didn’t vote… I think I’ll still feel superior though.

Well what is annoying is the people who feel so smug not just that they voted, but that they voted early. "Did you vote yet? I already voted. Got up at five a.m. It’s like they are proving their willingness and eagerness to participate in the democratic process is amplified by this fact.

If you get there before the poll workers have had their coffee, you can go through the line three or four times under different names before they catch on.

Well, I just voted. Bitches.

(Sorry, couldn’t restrain myself.)

I still think that election day should be a holiday from work, as it is in a number of
European democracies…

Why, I did vote…and where’s this s-mug? I’ve got a beverage that needs some s-warming.

I think that would be cool, too, but I doubt many people don’t vote because of work. I voted on my way home, and many here voted on their way from home early in the morning. It was easier than going to the grocery store to buy eggs, lines included. And if those few people know they’re going to be stuck because of work, they can get an absentee ballot. The fact is, the vast majority of people here who don’t vote are either too lazy or too apathetic.

Maybe it is these two qualities the smugees feel superior to. “Look at me me – I’m neither smug nor apathetic – HA!”

Dammit, now I want a s-mug!

GAH! Too early to be typing … “lazy nor apathetic.” Sorry!

Great, like stores don’t have enough excuses to run sales. “Sit out the election in this beautiful Barcalounger during our Election Day Sale!”

And then we should bring back the laws keeping liquor stores and bars closed until the polls close. It would be like Christmas without the family togetherness, which might be a good thing.

Uh…not following you…doesn’t getting up at 5 A.M. to vote demonstrate eagerness? It seems to indicate eagerness to me.
