I weep. [This](http://www.ifitsmovies.com/2011/03/first-official-trailer-for-the-smurfs-makes-its-way-online/) makes teh CGI Yogi Bear movie look like high art in comparisson. (Please, don’t click it. It’s too awful.) But look at the _cast!_ Sweet Jeebus - how, just _how_ did this come to pass?? ---

They had two options, make a good movie for kids, or make a good movie for 20 year olds who watched the Smurfs as kids. It looks like they did neither. ---

Bringing the Smurfs to New York is just a hopeless idea. If they’d just kept in whatever fantasy land it was in and had a decent story it could have worked for both. ---

**Our Turf Get’s Smurfed.** This is what a meeting of actual humans came up with. This movie is clearly an opportunity to make a movie that is “allegedly” a kids movie, but is filled with a lot of adult jokes that kids miss. I mean, this movie should be the kind of movie that the MPAA rates as PG, but later realizes is an R movie. It looks like they missed the mark. ---

I hope there’s more Smurfs in the prologue, because 5 or 6 is kind of boring. Seems very hokey. But maybe the cast + nostalgia will make up for it. ---

What is this? Me and my sister already wrote a smurf movie 30 years ago and it seems to have been superior to the latest movie, as it featured cool stuff like Joe Strummer and David Lee Roth having a fistfight at the benefit concert, Reagan stepping on a smurf while on a diplomatic mission to rescue them, and Psycho-smurf sneaking into the shower to stab women in the ankle. Yeah, we’d need to update it a bit but maybe I should send the script in. ---

Now that I think about it, if they dropped the “kid’s movie” pretense and actually did make it a dark, bloody adult adventure, directed by Quentin Tarantino - _that_ I’d go and see! Totally! But fart jokes like “Ew, who smurfed?” is just painfully :rolleyes: ---

Cast Charlie Sheen as Gargamel who wants _oil_ not smurf soup, and shoehorn in a musical number for Glee fans, like maybe by Gadhafi singing “Lonely, I’m not lonely. My citizens love me…” ---

They look like they’re made of the rubbery plastic that the figurines are made of. That’s not right. It’s simple, keep it in smurf land and have a fantasy adventure! How can they get this so wrong? ---
