Hey, all I think is that it’s damn convenient that he can pull out such a personal revelation that would send Dio packing and totally derail the thread. I myself was thinking “Dio, lay off the penis imagery, what if there’s females or castrated men in your target group.” And there you go. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. I’ll never know for sure. All I can do is file this datum and compare it to his fuure actions. If he’s an overall good poster, then it’s probably true. If he turns out to be a lying trollish jerk, then I can safetly conclude otherwise. ---

You gained respect and compassion from those of us who would rather err on the side of giving you the benefit of the doubt and being sensitive to what you sacrificed on our behalf, and you learned the caliber of person you were dealing with regarding those who chose to call you a liar and call bullshit on your posts. I’m surprised no one has brought up the difference between “dickless” and “castrated.” I believe it was Jake in \*\*The Sun Also Rises \*\* who was dickless; at at least it was made clear that he was injured in such a way as to still have the desire but not the ability to have sex. My understanding is that castration pretty much eliminates desire. ---

My impression has always been that castration involves excision of the testes, leaving the penis intact. That’s the way it’s done in gelding horses, anyway. I can personally testify (ha!) to the equine process, having held the light for my vet when he gelded a colt at my barn.\* Gelding does in fact eliminate most of the desire, although some geldings do continue to show occasional mating behavior. My gelding Nick, for example, is very much a mare’s man, and actually tried to mount a mare in heat once. The fact that he’s a big Quarter Horse and she was a Shetland pony left their love unrequited, as we rushed into the paddock and separated them when they’d scrambled back to their feet. But yeh, if you can extrapolate from equine to human, castration and loss of the penis are two different things, and a man who lost his penis yet retained his testes I would expect to retain the normal level of desire. \*I can supply details on the process, if anyone’s interested. 😉 ---

I guess what I meant by desire was the actual physiological manifestation; ie., quickening of pulse and respiration, blood flow toward genitals, rather than “wanting to.” I am equating it with a man who may want to perform, but for wharever reason is unable to. ---
