I liked it. Paul Ruud is naturally funny. Timberlake was great. Beyonce was smokin’ hot. I thought most of the sketches were pretty funny, except for the last couple which usually suck.

Yeah, there was a whole lotta gay in this episode. Most of it seemed based on the assumption that two men kissing is intrisically hilarious (it’s not). I thought the sketch with the two parking lot guys was kind of sweet, though.
Justin Timberlake _is_ intrinsically hilarious. I wish he were on every week.
ETA: Beyonce is more of an actress than a singer. She seems more comfortable posing and looking fabulous than making music.

I was impressed by some tech stuff on this show. The blood spurt at the end of the “Garden Party” sketch and the lighting of the Beyonce sketch; fade out - bring up lights - switch to black and white - then reverse and repeat - all without a hitch.
And on ‘Update’, Timberlake’s condensed version of the show he won’t be doing was very impressive.
The two new girls are cute, but we didn’t see much of them. I liked how the old cast was aggressively pointing to them during the credit roll.

I’m glad you mentioned that because I didn’t recognize those girls at the end and I couldn’t figure out why they were all pointing at them. Makes sense now.

I really enjoyed the songwriters sketch. And the overly affectionate family. The rest was pretty meh.

I actually thought it was a pretty good show all around. Paul Rudd is a good actor and comedian, and so is Justin Timberlake. There were the usual sketches that fell flat, but the quality-to-dreck ratio was higher than it’s been for most of the season.

According to my cable system program guide, Tim McGraw is scheduled to appear next week. That’s too bad, as I think Timberlake would have been funnier (based on his recap at least).
And FYI, one of the new cast members is Abby Elliott, who is the daughter of Chris Elliott (who was on the show in 1994) and the granddaughter of Bob Elliott.

Personally, I think it was the best amateur folk song about Fedex tracking numbers ever recorded.

I thought the “Everyone’s a Critic” sketch was pretty funny when everyone flipped out at Pauls painting.
The Beyonce video shoot was also pretty funny.
The rest, meh.

I am now adding Justin Timberlake to Alec Baldwin and Christopher Walkin on my list of hosts I will always watch because they’ll do something so bizarrely hilarious I’ll laugh about it for the next two days no matter how bad the rest of the show is.

Timberlake is definitely an ‘A’ list host. He’s hosted a few times, and he’s always the funniest person on the show when he does it.

Timberlake is amazing. Practically no-one outside of the young female demo likes him when he shows up on the stage… but at the end of the show you’re like, “That guy’s awesome!”
His music’s okay, not my cup of tea, but his acting and comedic chops are excellent. I saw him in _Alpha Dogs_ - a more serious dramatic role - and he nailed it. He is a comedy legend for his previous SNLs and “Dick In A Box.”
Who the hell invited Beyonce? That first song was pants. About how she wishes she was a boy so she could scratch her nuts and ogle women.
I could have done without the headshot humor. I really don’t find anything funny about people blowing their brains out, or having their brains blown out. I didn’t need to see it done twice in the same show.

Timberlake was better than anyone in the cast, and Beyonce was better than most.
Too bad Seth Meyers (this season’s new head writer) seems to have only two joke topics, politics and teh gay. Now that the elections over, his well is drying up. Seriously, how many sketches this week relied on gay themes for their humor? At least 6.
1. The kissing family (Which was not even close to funny enough to be at the top of the show.)
2. The scared straight guy. (Keenan does a great job here, and the Walter Mitty moments were great, but again, jokes about prison rape - evidently supposed to be hilarious.)
3. Nude painting guys.
4. Guys in the car.
5. Parking garage guys.
6. Beyonce’s dancers.
And there were probably a few more. Seriously, try to expand to additional topics. One or two of the sketches were ok, but an entire night of them seemed like one note played by my 13 year old and his friends.
ANd after all the publicity about Bob Elliot’s granddaughter joining the cast, they just put her two scetches and don’t give her a single funny line? What a waste.
And not enough Casey Wilson.
So far, worst SNL of a particularly strong season.
