# SNL; does Baldwin keep playing Trump?

While many of us may feel this way in the immediate aftermath of this election, I think it’s actually important that SNL (and everybody else with a mind to) continue to relentlessly mock Trump as much as possible. Satire can be a potent social tool.

But does the satire accomplish anything? Listen to the recent Malcolm Gladwell’s podcast on satire (Revisionist History). I learned quite a bit from it and hadn’t considered that both liberals and conservatives can view something like the old Colbert Report as being on “their side”.

Alec Baldwin is [returning as Donald Trump](http://time.com/4576832/alec-baldwin-donald-trump/?xid=time_socialflow_twitter) on the next _Saturday Night Live_ and he says he’ll continue to portray him “every now and then”.
