Nice job, dipshit.

Can’t even read the cast member playlist cue cards that are being played live.

Damn! My NBC reception went out for a few minutes early in the show and I didn’t get a chance to see the slip-up!

I THOUGHT I HEARD THAT!!! LOL!
On the other hand, take it easy on Don. It was probably wishful thinking. Chris Kattan is funny, Chris Parnell however…

Nice language, **MrSarcasticus**. [Don Pardo](http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0661094/) will be 86 years old in a few days. Hope people are nicer to you when you’re 86.

Probably gave Chris Parnell a fleeting belief that he was funny.

God, that was an awful episode tonight. This whole season has been dreadful.

Pardon my hijack, but does anyone know why Parnell was doing George W. last year, but Hammond is doing it this year? I don’t think either of them can hold a candle to Will Ferrel, but I thought Parnell was a bit better than Hammond.

I wasn’t watching, but heard “Chris Kattan”, and wondered what was up with that. Was he back on the cast? I know it’s new one…

Forgot about it until I saw this thread.

I’m sure Mr. Pardo realized his mistake immediately, but when you’re Announcing, you can’t really say, “Oops, sorry, I mean Parnell.” You have to just keep going.

I heard the same thing! I thought it was funny. And I don’t know what you’re talking about **Sam** , I thought the episode was pretty amusing. Of course, I only watched until midnight then did some other stuff, but it gave me some chuckles.

I did enjoy the Ted Koppell’s Nightline skit & have to admit that Parnell did a kickass Lieberman.

The OP is needlessly hostile. Pardo has been on the job nearly 30 years (with a one-year break in the middle) and through hundreds of cast changes. Do _you_ never make minor mistakes in your job?

The big surprise to me was learning that he announces the cast names live. I always assumed the audio was recorded onto the same film as the opening itself, with the host and musical guest added on fresh each week.

</div>

Yeah, it is surprising that he reads the cast list live each week. But if he didn’t, there wouldn’t be much else for him to do. Announcers must have a very strong union.

The same one ‘letter toucher’ Vanna White belongs to, maybe. Is there an easier and more useless job than that? Hey what if Vanna got fired from Wheel and took a job on Jeopardy, you know, touching each answer before it popped on? “Hey Vanna. How do you like the new job?” Vanna: “God, it’s killing me. I’m working my ass off over there!”

Besides reading the cast list, Pardo does a short warm-up routine for the live audience before the show.

This is a mantra that’s becoming increasingly tiresome on this board. By sheer law of averages, every SNL season generally has more dull spots than bright. The hilarious Oprah sketch made up for any lame ones in this particular show.

Though maybe just seeing Tina Fey get dry-humped by a female cast member has a medicinal effect on me.

I _loved_ the Oprah sketch! I laughed so hard, my stomach hurt. It is fairly accurate, too. Every time I happen to catch one of the “Oprah’s Favorite Things” episodes, I have to change the channel after a few minutes because I can’t stand all the screaming. Now if I was getting a bunch of cool free stuff from Oprah, I’d probably be screaming too, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I want to listen to it for an hour.

Wow, I did not know that. That’s good to hear. He’s been with the show so long, I was afraid he might be pre-recording his contribution from a nursing home or something.

And I thought the ep was at least average—watchable certainly, and had a decent host. Sure, there have been shows, including more than one this season, that just took a big ol’ belly flop on the stage, but this wasn’t one of them.

The Oprah sketch was not bad, but I might have found it funnier if I had ever actually seen Oprah’s show. I haven’t, but I kind of get the impression that Oprah is to women (at least the kind who watch her) as Mr. Rogers or Captain Kangaroo or Bozo the Clown is to small children.

I want to dry-hump Tina Fey (or even wet-hump if at all possible). Then I want to cuddle afterwards, I’ll even make her breakfast. Oh, and I want to dry and/or wet-hump her.

According to the book Live From New York, whenever Pardo is out sick Darrell Hammond subs for him on announcing duties, and he does such a spot-on impression that they don’t even credit him differently.

One time recently they did a bit (allegedly) involving Pardo in the opening, and it seemed pretty clear to me it wasn’t Pardo. I cannot say if it was Hammond, but whoever was imitating Pardo wasn’t doing the best job. You could tell he was imitating Don Pardo, but it was very obviously not Pardo.
