Oh, I think humans will still be avidly killing each other in the Future.

I’d like to think that the beings/replicons of the new era will be astonished that humans were so devoted to conspiracy theories. Except they will probably be grousing how life spans would be more than 200 years, except Big Photon is suppressing the cure for premature syngen failure.

Back then, they were all made of meat. Seriously.

It was quite popular on a more limited scale in the U.S. also, usually among people who considered themselves Progessives.

University educated character I knew, born in the 20’s, believed (post war) that the dumb Americans were going to out-breed the smart Americans.

That’s the kind of thing that worries smart people more than it worries dumb people.

He was a millennialist not an evolutionist, so he didn’t have any theological reasons to worry about breeding, he was just responding to the common beliefs of smart Americans at that time.

I like to think that educated Americans have a better understanding of the effect of ‘regression towards the mean’ than they did in the 50’s, but maybe I’m wrong.

Do you wish that the first Apollo mission hadn’t reached the moon, or that we hadn’t gone on to Mars and then to the nearest star? That’s like saying you wish that you still operated with scalpels and sewed your patients up with catgut like your great-great-great-great grandfather used to.
