# Snoop Dogg....smoothest/coolest dude ever?

Ok…I’m sitting here watching ‘Chapelle’s Show’ and Snoop Dogg is performing a song at the end. Myself personally, I can’t ever remember a person that exuded coolness that he does. James Dean, Elvis, James Brown, The Fonz…etc. Can you think of anyone? He just seems to be him, exactly who he is, and it’s the apex of cool/smooth to me.
So, who’s cooler than him?
(I realize I’m showing my age by using cool…but it just seems to fit)

Keith Richards, Iggy Pop, and Bo Diddley are cooler than than Snoop, Elvis, James Dean and The Fonz all put together. James Brown though…they don’t come any ccoler than that.

I’ll concede Bo Diddley to a point for coolness. I don’t think he meets the smoothness factor though. James Brown is tough. I think it’s Snoops presence that does it for me.

I love Snoop, but I think Chris Isaak, Brian Setzer, and Harry Connick Jr. could all put up good fights in the cool and smooth categories. Tony Bennett as well.

Samuel L. Jackson.
Though frankly, my tastes run a bit more classic – Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, a young Sean Connery – _that_ is the definition of cool.

I’ll agree in a way. Clint Eastwood in his ‘Spaghetti Westerns’ was (in my mind) the coolest ‘actor’ ever.
I guess that what I’m saying is that Snoop Dogg…seems to be exactly as he is. There isn’t really acting involved. Cary Grant, Sinatra, Connery, my own Clint Eastwood…what we’ve seen is the characters they’ve played in movies and TV.
Stupid argument I know…but, to me, somehow relevant and fun.

I think it’s his laid-back cronic-smokin west-coast flava.
I would say, Snoop is the coolest _rapper_ out there. Comparing him to Tony Bennett, the Fonz or Iggy Pop though-- it’s like apples and oranges.

I’m agreeing with the OP here. He may just be.
Qualification: Cool is, well, “cool” but on its own it can be a bit superficial. I’m not saying he hasn’t got any other qualities, but if he takes first prize for anything it’s got to be coolness. Which will get him credit in my book but not first prize over all by a long shot.
P.s. He’s scores very very high on the sexiness rating too, but I suppose that’s a side effect of coolness.

I’ll agree with that. Samuel L Jackson is definately very cool. He’s pretty close to what the OP was going for. IMHO though, he’s just missing _something_. I think it’s the smoothness factor.

You mean Karl Marx, right? He wrote the satire Das Kapital, about a young Jewish boy whose superpowers defeat the Nazis in an alternate Germany 1941. Awesome book. Also he drank like Hemingway and snorted horse like Burroughs. He’s like Keith Richards for books.
