For you clueless urbanites out there. There are multiple reasons why the quarry thing is funny. The autocorrect story of Bo’s boss is funny as hell IMO. The sitcom where the odd character uses the phrase is funny because the odd character says something odd (not that there is anything wrong with that). And finally… IF YOU lived in the fucking middle of nowhere before the glorious days of cable/satellite TV, not to mention the awesome fucking internet, back when you might be lucky to get three TV channels (with reruns galore) and some hippy guy on PBS painting “happy little trees” over and over again, you could be bored to shit. And it was double fun if you were poorish, youngish, and the “local” (like 20 mile away) library sucked. So, in those circumstances, going down to the local quarry beat masturbating for the third time that day. And what the fuck are gonna do when you get there? Throw some shit in there of course. I didn’t even have a quarry. I had swamp. And not even big cool swamp. Not deep enough to float in, but not firm enough to walk in. So, you got to the edge and looked at it. I’ve have killed for a quarry. Oh, the illegal garbage dumps in the middle of the woods were the coolest things we had to go to. Might find a dirty magazine or some mechanical thingy to play with. I can relate to quarries. Hmmm. I’m toying with a new signature I should always sign out with. Might have to make it magenta. You know I’m right. You just won’t admit it. Billfish678. ---

It don’t make me angry at all. Just a bit of a giggle thinking of Bo’s childhood. Pretty sure he was the kid who not only insisted on picking his nose all the time but on sharing how long of a mucous thread he could get out. “Yuck Bo. Stop that. I don’t want to see your juicy boogers.” "Hey. It’s my thing. " “You are a dickwad for keeping it up man.” “Quit bullying me!” Of course in the schoolyard he probably then met some real bullies and was pantsed or something. Hence his issues on standing up for his right to be a jerk. Personally, again, this is nothing to me. I remain puzzled though why posting green crossed the line but this does not. I can just as easily skip a green post. And would. ---

I find it dumb and generally don’t find his posts terribly memorable, but like most of us, he seems like just a nerd who likes goofing around on a message board when he has some free time and being able to behave differently than he would IRL. I really don’t get the antagonism for that particular phrase. It strikes me as similar to Shodan’s “regards” which pisses some people off but doesn’t cause me to bat an eyelash. ---

I don’t get worked up, or frothy, or raging, or upset. I DO think it’s one of the stupidest things ever to emerge in the long history of stupid things to emerge on this message board. Every time I see it, it’s a quick little reminder to me that, “Oh, yeah, that guy. What an idiot,” and then I move on. I’m sure he doesn’t care in the least about my opinion. ---

Shodan’s regards is also of mild annoyance. I could understand his being told to stop it and understand just ignoring it. I read Shodan’s posts though because they contribute. I disagree most often but they actually further a conversation. Bo? I’ve not seen enough to warrant more than skipping. ---

I find it funny. It’s even funnier every time. And the fact that he keeps doing it makes it funnier still! The fact that ridiculous people are so upset about it and, ironically, have actually made it impossible for him to stop ever is hilarious too. It’s like when bullies make fun of you for carrying an “uncool” backpack to school–now you can never replace it because then they will have won and you will be a sniveling weakling who lets others dictate their actions that harm no one.
