I think the accident was that Schwarzenegger said the line a bunch of different times, each with a basically random line reading. One of them turned out to be good, and Cameron used it.

Sort of amusing to try to imagine Schwartzenegger trying to bring some range to that line reading.

Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Not quite, try it again.  
Arnie (in exactly the same affect): I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Can we try it with more emotion?  
Arnie (still with the same affect): I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Make it more menacing.  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Try it angrier.  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Think about a dead pet from your childhood when you say it.  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Let’s try lighter. Think of a funny clown.  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Now a sad clown.  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Funny clown!  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Sad clown!  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Funny clown!  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: Sad clown!  
Arnie: I’ll be back.  
Cameron: PERFECT! Cut and print!
