So are these Chinese Army shovels really that great?

Although entrenching tools have been good for whacking bad guys for a hundred years, no one was crazy enough to actually train to use them in combat except the Spetsnaz. And now maybe the Chinese. That’s troubling.

The saw was near useless. Spending 15 seconds cutting through a branch that a normal person would just break off with their hands is a labor intensifying device. and the can opener, wow, they managed to take a p-38 and enlarge it into something nobody would use for the same reason they wouldn’t use the cutting blade to cut vegetables with… IT’S A DIRTY SHOVEL.

The hammer would be useful if it wasn’t attached to a rattling shovel. It would be like hammering with a fender.

Lets look at the wire cutter. Possibly useful unless you were working your way through spiral barbed wire and now you have to maneuver a SHOVEL through the tangle of wire in order to cut one strand.

Multi-function tools usually do nothing well and this is one of them.

At best, the link was an exercise video.

OH, and I’d like to know what happened to the guy who fell into the river because it looked like he might have slipped into a low dam under-toe. I’m guessing “flotation device” was left out of the video.

My tools include an army shovel that gets used about once a week. I work on wells and water pumps it is very convenient for working in tight well pits and clearing off and around buried covers.

The one I use is a v Vietnam era US army shovel like this one here.

It’s one from my fathers years in the Air Force. I’m always on the look out for a similar one, for when my current one breaks. I don’t like the newer versions with the serrated edges or metal and loop style handles.

I heard about the video and checked it out a little while ago. For my purposes it’s not that impressive. The US has made plenty of similar tools for our own troops. Not sure what our most modern version is but I’m sure we could find a hundred uses for it too.
