Yesterday I got an email from an old BF [yeah, the guy who dumped me and broke my heart last fall, shut up] saying he’d be over in my daytime neck of the woods this morning, and suggesting we have lunch after he finishes doing what he’s doing (“visiting Ava Lily,” from which I infer that he is now a grandfather – I’m trying to remember when I heard that his DIL was pregnant), maybe at [name of Chinese restaurant], and we could talk about a Sudoku program he’d written after I introduced him to that puzzly goodness. Blah blah, blah blah blah blah. (Additional backstory, none of it interesting.) So I wrote back and said “Fine, but I don’t know where that restaurant is [I didn’t add, ‘and I don’t like Chinese food anyway,’ though I could have], how about X or Y instead?” That was at 3:00 yesterday. Haven’t heard back. Wrote first thing morning saying “wassup,” and giving him my [new] work number; haven’t heard back. I’d call, but he’s probably left already. No, he doesn’t have a cell. How nice that I get to spend the morning thinking about this shit instead of the shit they pay me a significant amount of money to think about. ---

Well, I hate to sound like a total jerk, especially since I don’t know anything about your situation beyond what you have stated, but the guy seems like an ass to me, and therefore not worth your time. If he makes your fret this much just about a lunch date, then I would hate to see what he puts you through on a day to day basis. If I were to invite a lady to lunch, I think at least a confirmation phone call, text message, or email is in order. If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time and write it off as a learning experience, but that is just me. Sorry he stood you up, but at least you haven’t driven there and waited for him yet… ---

Sometimes you might just have to look a little harder, but will find a gem when you least expect it… Remember, it all works out ok in the end, if it isn’t ok, it isn’t the end… ---

I don’t know what he wants. Nah, I do. Nah, I don’t. Whatever he wants, he doesn’t want us to get back together. He does, however, want to be “friends.” I also don’t know what I want. Nah, I do. Nah, I don’t. I am clear that someone could who could meet me and get the full experience of my wonderfulness and cold-bloodedly decide that being with me isn’t what he wants doesn’t deserve to be with me even if he were to change his mind, which he won’t. I’ve been “dating” (whatever that means) a fair amount over the last six months or so. In fact, I’ve seen this guy exactly once since he dumped me – about six months ago, just before I started dating again. Righ now, I’m in the process of letting the current situations play themselves out before going back on hiatus again, because dating sucks. You know what I want? I want my life to be pretty much the way it is, except I’d get laid on some kind of semi-regular basis. Is that too much to ask? ---

Wow, Kalhoun is much more optimistic than I am. I am with Count Blucher here. I have seen too many female friends repeatly hurt by the same guy/jerk for me to think that they are worth the time and effort, but that is just my opinion. ---

Just checked my email \*again[/] – nothing from Shithead (of course) – but a nice email from one of the guys who I may or may not be “dating,” who I asked out for this weekend, he wrote yesterday and said he was going up to NY to see his mom … he wrote back today with an alternative for either end of his trip up to see his mom. **pumps fist** ---
