It’s one of those crimes that’s hard to empathize with, to put it that way.
I can see, on some level, the desire to rape a good-looking woman. But this? Masturbation or a blow-up doll would be better. And if it’s the desire to dominate, how satisfying can it be to dominate someone in a care facility?
In a funny way it is hard to work up outrage, because it creeps me out so bad. I don’t understand it on _any_ level.
Ick. Just ick.

I’m kind of surprised that they didn’t release photos from the videos. While I’m sure that the videos show a lot of X-rated action, I think that they could probably take some stills and crop out or black out everything but the faces of the rapists.

Depressingly, this is correct. We’re the species who use mass rape of women and girls as a military tactic.

It’s sad but I’m not surprised. I’ve read that disabled/mentally challenged women tend to be at a very high risk of being raped/sexually assaulted due to their vulnerability.

For the stuff in the OP? Not in the US. Didn’t the SCOTUS recently rule that the death penalty can only by applied for murder?

More or less. Either the victim has to die or the crime has to be “against the State” for the death penalty to be constitutional, so the death penalty for treason or espionage is presumably still technically operational (though I don’t think its been used since the Rosenbergs)

The parents of the “[pillow angel](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Treatment)” cited the risk of becoming pregnant due to rape in a care facility as one of their reasons for seeking the extreme treatment for their daughter that hit the headlines in 2007. I always thought it was, sadly, common.

Maybe it’s just the way the article was written\*, but how come this is just getting attention from the cops when the videos were dropped off last March? What have they been doing with them in the interim?
