My dad was actually telling me about this movie and how great it was, and he is NOT one to like bad movies for the sake of them being so bad. I mean, in his review over the phone to me, he recognized how cheesy and silly the premise was. But he honestly enjoyed the film and was recommending it to me. I promptly just filed it away in the garbage bin of my mind, never to be thought of again… but now upon your mentioning it, I might just have to give it a try!

Isn’t it faster to just say “about anything with Patrick Swayze”? I would watch anything he was in, but his movies tend to be either mopey with a big dose of dumb (Ghost, Dirty Dancing), campy (the three above, To Julie Newmar) or both, yet be very enjoyable.

I will defend Tremors, too, it’s a wonderful B-movie, has a great cast, and besides that, I love it!

They Live! - same thing. Saw that first on Joe Bob Briggs Drive-In Theater, which specialized in so-bad-its-good movies.

Hercules In New York with Arnold S. is always mentioned in this kind of discussion, so I’m mentioning it!

Last night G4 served up a steaming plate of **Casino Royale** (1967 - hold the Broccoli). Added entertainment if you watch it with somebody who’s never seen it before and pretend there is a coherent plot that they’re just too thick to follow.

I just watched this yesterday after noticing in on Netflix Streaming, and I have to disagree. I agree with the horrible movie part, but it goes beyond horrible and shoots right past so horrible it’s funny into the … er … double horrible zone!

I think this is because it was intended to be a comic horror action flick, and it failed in all three. If it had tried to be a serious film, it would have been much funnier.

[Nazis at the Center of the Earth](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazis_at_the_Center_of_the_Earth). I watched it on Netflix streaming a couple nights ago. The maniac look of the H[itler head in a bell jar](http://i.imgur.com/Z30YX.png) on a robot is great. It hits all the cheesy classics, undead Hitler, undead Nazi stormtroopers, Antarctic Nazi base with Nazi UFO - using the Nazi[woo invention](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Glocke) that has been mentioned in those History Channel Nazi woo science documentaries [very nice touch IMHO] and complete with strange and horrifying Dr Mengele experimentation.

All things considered, an entertaining way to pass time picking apart the movie. You can actually do the classic Nazi drinking game - a shot for every classic meme, one for every time someone heil hitlers, stuff like that. 😛

Sadly, Bruce Campbell dies within the first five minutes before he even gets within miles of a magic book, shotgun, chainsaw, or a steam-powered Oldsmobile with a giant propeller on the front. It’s a shame, really - that might have made _Congo_ more watchable.

In [these threads](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=7822561#post7822561), I always bring up [_Robot Jox_](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102800/). Having not yet read _The Forever War_, I didn’t know at the time who [Joe Haldeman](http://www.joehaldeman.com/) was, but while he was busy trying to write the screenplay into a serious movie about a bleak future in which [The Market is always one match away from losing Alaska to The Confederacy](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUxDmKFCD2o), he had to contend with a director who wanted to make a movie that kids would love to see regardless of consequences.

At least the outer space scene was in complete silence, like it should have been!

Since I loved Battletech so much, I had to see it in the theater and eventually get it on VHS so I could enjoy its awfulness over and over again.

_Tremors_ did what few movies manage to accomplish: take a ridiculous situation that is the stuff of Bad Movies and make it believable. Plus, Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon, a duo made in heaven. They should have made five more pictures together.

_Red Dawn_ exemplifies Bad 80’s Jingoistic Nonsense. The scenario of how The Evil Empire invades the U.S. of A. is so outlandish it’s almost beyond science fiction. The unlikely confluence of events presented in the title cards in the first five minutes make it so that _Ireland_ could have invaded the U.S.
