I can no longer edit my first post. So - can’t edit doesn’t mean “too old to bump”. Got it. I poked around and didn’t see mention of a timer, so I asked. ---

I guess if you have no editing powers or admin powers but are just a content provider for their Web 2.5 scheme ala SomethingAwful, you are just a subcontractor for ‘da man’? We had the rule of “no editing” because of what was said in the explanation: see [Rules for Posting at the Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=384736) and note post #12. Plus, it put too much strain on our already over-taxed old server(s). The question came up every so often for discussion. There was a thread two weeks ago about this: [Is there any way to edit or remove your own post? - About This Message Board - Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=402570) At that time, we were considering a trial of editing with the new server, but didn’t dare say anything because folks get all upset if they hear what we think might happen. So, we’re on a trial basis. We do listen to you. If it works out, we’ll revise the rules, but I don’t want to go to that much trouble if it lasts a week and then vanishes from abuse. … and I hope to heaven this doesn’t mean that every other post is of the “nyah, nyah, you mispelled a word.” [sub]Yes, I know, it’s deliberate, it’s a joke on Gaudere’s Principle.[/sub] ---
