So we went to see CATS the movie ---
**Author:** ![Elendil\_s\_Heir](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/e/7cd45c/32.png) [@Elendil\_s\_Heir](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Elendil_s_Heir)\ **Post date:** [January 7, 2020, 5:47pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/322 "2020-01-07T17:47:06Z")
But we were skeeved out by all the tiny cat people, and demanded our money back. ---
**Author:** ![Beckdawrek](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/beckdawrek/32/3647_2.png) [@Beckdawrek](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Beckdawrek)\ **Post date:** [January 7, 2020, 6:11pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/323 "2020-01-07T18:11:35Z")
So…We took the refund and went to the Casino. ---
**Author:** ![panache45](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/panache45/32/64_2.png) [@panache45](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/panache45)\ **Post date:** [January 7, 2020, 6:33pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/324 "2020-01-07T18:33:45Z")
But our luck returned, and we left the casino with well over $1 million. ---
**Author:** ![Annie-Xmas](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/a/ecc23a/32.png) [@Annie-Xmas](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Annie-Xmas)\ **Post date:** [January 7, 2020, 6:35pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/325 "2020-01-07T18:35:00Z")
So we went to purchase some lottery tickets ---
**Author:** ![Bumbershoot](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/bumbershoot/32/3428_2.png) [@Bumbershoot](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Bumbershoot)\ **Post date:** [January 8, 2020, 3:33pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/326 "2020-01-08T15:33:10Z")
But even with well over a million tickets, we only matched four numbers on one of them and got back $100. ---
**Author:** ![Annie-Xmas](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/a/ecc23a/32.png) [@Annie-Xmas](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Annie-Xmas)\ **Post date:** [January 8, 2020, 3:35pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/327 "2020-01-08T15:35:21Z")
So I asked “What can we do with well over nine hundred, ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred ninty-nine losing lottery tickets?” ---
**Author:** ![atimnie](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/atimnie/32/11_2.png) [@atimnie](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/atimnie)\ **Post date:** [January 8, 2020, 4:10pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/328 "2020-01-08T16:10:43Z")
But the dog didn’t answer… because he was a dog. ---
**Author:** ![Elendil\_s\_Heir](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/e/7cd45c/32.png) [@Elendil\_s\_Heir](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Elendil_s_Heir)\ **Post date:** [January 8, 2020, 5:44pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/329 "2020-01-08T17:44:36Z")
So we looked in the phonebook to find someone who could give him the power of speech. ---
**Author:** ![Beckdawrek](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/beckdawrek/32/3647_2.png) [@Beckdawrek](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Beckdawrek)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 7:16am UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/330 "2020-01-10T07:16:57Z")
But… he was tongue tied. ---
**Author:** ![Cardigan](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/cardigan/32/187_2.png) [@Cardigan](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Cardigan)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 4:36pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/331 "2020-01-10T16:36:16Z")
So then we noticed we’d accidently called a speech therapist, as opposed to looking in the yellow pages under the much more logical “Canine Speech Restoration Services” section and dialed the first number listed. ---
**Author:** ![atimnie](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/atimnie/32/11_2.png) [@atimnie](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/atimnie)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 5:49pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/332 "2020-01-10T17:49:29Z")
But that was also the only number listed. ---
**Author:** ![panache45](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/panache45/32/64_2.png) [@panache45](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/panache45)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 6:37pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/333 "2020-01-10T18:37:45Z")
So we realized that we must be dreaming, because when was the last time any of us had seen a phone book? ---
**Author:** ![Elendil\_s\_Heir](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/e/7cd45c/32.png) [@Elendil\_s\_Heir](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Elendil_s_Heir)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 6:47pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/334 "2020-01-10T18:47:03Z")
But then \*that \*turned out to be a dream, and we all woke up. ---
**Author:** ![Beckdawrek](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/beckdawrek/32/3647_2.png) [@Beckdawrek](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Beckdawrek)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 7:07pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/335 "2020-01-10T19:07:59Z")
So…Bobby Ewing was in the shower. We were faked out. ---
**Author:** ![Cardigan](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/cardigan/32/187_2.png) [@Cardigan](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Cardigan)\ **Post date:** [January 10, 2020, 7:31pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/336 "2020-01-10T19:31:03Z")
But then our show ended up getting bad ratings and not long after we got cancelled. ---
**Author:** ![atimnie](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/atimnie/32/11_2.png) [@atimnie](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/atimnie)\ **Post date:** [January 11, 2020, 12:10am UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/337 "2020-01-11T00:10:41Z")
So we did a movie where JR shot Bobby Ewing. ---
**Author:** ![Beckdawrek](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/beckdawrek/32/3647_2.png) [@Beckdawrek](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Beckdawrek)\ **Post date:** [January 11, 2020, 12:18am UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/338 "2020-01-11T00:18:06Z")
But…Miss Ellie stopped him. ---
**Author:** ![Annie-Xmas](https://avatars.discourse-cdn.com/v4/letter/a/ecc23a/32.png) [@Annie-Xmas](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/Annie-Xmas)\ **Post date:** [January 11, 2020, 2:59pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/339 "2020-01-11T14:59:05Z")
So then she was transported to a planet where all the people looked like pigs and she was locked up for being ugly. ---
**Author:** ![atimnie](https://sea3.discourse-cdn.com/straightdope/user_avatar/boards.straightdope.com/atimnie/32/11_2.png) [@atimnie](https://boards.straightdope.com/u/atimnie)\ **Post date:** [January 11, 2020, 3:13pm UTC](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656/340 "2020-01-11T15:13:39Z")
But that was a Twilight Zone episode, and we had to take that out of the movie. [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656.md?page=16) [Next page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/so-but/663656.md?page=18)
