At 1:15am Th. morning, the winds here flipped my metal frame car canopy upside down. We did not regain power or landline phones until some time between 4am and 7am on Friday. Pasadena fared far worse, and a friend in Monrovia reports that her power is still out and her fridge contents are getting funky. Mine are okay. The house temp plummeted to 63 degrees. Glad the heater is working again. I am farther east in L.A. county. How did you fare? Did you lose part of your roof, have your car smashed by a tree, got a huge mess of crap to clean up, have to throw out perishables, etc.? ---

On the border of Culver City here. The wind was absolutely wicked. There was tree debris everywhere, including big palm tree fronds. Neither my office or apartment had the power go completely out, though it did flicker enough to reset my electricity-powered clocks. I had a ton of crap flying in my eyes (hard contact lenses, ouch), but otherwise I escaped unscathed. ---

It’s fine here at the border of Orange County and Los Angeles County. I’m guessing the people without power won’t be posting on message boards at the moment. 😉 My friends in the Alhambra and Pasadena area have been without power since yesterday morning. Friends in Santa Monica and West LA have been intermittently without power as well. I was on the road to Pasadena yesterday morning when I heard the news. It sounded pretty dire, so I turned my car around and went back home. Most of the K-12 schools in the area had shut down for the day. I’m in Van Nuys, no problems here but a lot of people I work with that live in the foothills areas have had outages. ---
