Between Christmas and new years a friend and i had a glass of rum and egg nog… both waking up the next morning with severe stomach cramps, diareha, and vomiting is it possible to get food poisioning from egg nog?😕 ---

While the odds of any individual egg giving you salmonella is low, somethng like 20,000:1 against, Americans eat a lot of eggs, according to the [USDA](http://www.fsis.usda.gov/PDF/SE_Risk_Assess_Annex_H_Oct2005.pdf) 70 billion worth in the year 2000. That means 3.5 million contaminated eggs per year. ---

I love the shit out of eggnog… one year I drank like a quart over the course of one night. I got so sick I was off eggnog for two years. Just this Christmas I had my first mug of it since. ---

If you call the Health department about food poisoning, they will ask you about 2 dozen questions regarding your activities for the last 72 hours. Food Bourne illness can present symptoms in as little as 12 hours, but it usually takes longer then that. The answer to your question of “is it possible to get food poisioning(sic) from egg nog?”, the answer is YES. But its not a very good question. What did make you sick? We can’t possibly know that with such little information. I’d suggest you call your public health department if you are concerned. ---
