Oh, I’m not a fan of country music, either, but it might be a good idea to make room in the schedule for some. Not the commercialized modern country/rock type thing, but maybe the old-fashioned GOO type. I wouldn’t begrudge an hour or so a week to them.

FWIW public radio stations are not beholden to airing only content from NPR. They in fact buy shows from NPR. It is up to the local station to program as they see fit. So, a rural public station may very well broadcast content the locals like and not hippy, liberal Prairie Home Companion.
They clearly do have a bias. The sacking was for giving Republicans ammunition to defund the station.
