Per **manhattan’s** gentle suggestion in [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=172633) ill-fated thread, I’ll repost the question sans political tongue-in-cheekiness.

Does the U.S. have presidential doubles in service? How would the powers-that-be even recruit for such a job?
