I adore champagne, but I hardly ever drink it.
We have a bottle of Laurent Perrier and a bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte. We’ll probably drink one and save the other for another time, it’s just three of us staying home tonight.

I love champagne. I just opened the one and only bottle I’ll be drinking. All to myself. My SO has to work so I’m spending New Year’s eve alone. He wouldn’t drink it anyway. He doesn’t like champagne. Barbarian.

So we had to brave the grovery store and get better champagne.
Not amazing, but drinkable.
So there was no wine refrig. section at said grovery store.
So raided paretns’ fridge at 1 AM for possibly decent champagnity.

We managed to go through 5 bottles… not by ourselves, turned out some friends stopped by and helped us drink some. It was a wonderful night! The fancy bottle turned out to be a Bollanger… I forget which one but it was really wonderful. You know it’s a good New Year’s Eve when the worst bottle you open is what you usually buy as the “good” bottle of the night (California Chandon).
Surprisingly enough, I feel OK this morning. I fell asleep on the couch and Mr. Athena had to put me to bed at around 1:30. I should have eaten a bit more - we never did get to the tenderloins we were planning on eating. Also didn’t get to the lovely orange cheesecake he bought me (with chocolate crust!) OR the big birthday present. You know you’re having a good time when you forget to open your presents!
