I’ve got all the Rifftrax and I think the Twilight one was one of their best. A thorough and complete skewering.

I will hopefully be getting my home computer fixed (after more than a year!) in the next month or so, and one of the first things I plan on doing is getting the Rifftrax for this cheesetastic movie. Which I’ve seen twice\*, gods help me.
\*The second time only because a co-worker brought it in to watch on her laptop and Sunday nights at my job are really that slow and boring so I watched it with her. Really. Stop judging me!

IMO, he is very good looking, indeed. I’d be crushing on him as well (and on the guy who played Wood in the first HP movie–he was so cute!)

I meant to add that I thought that vamps were hetero because it was always a male vampire sucking the blood of a female human virgin. Dunno 'bout more contemporary versions (but I’m all inclusive–gay vampires unite!)

Don’t forget Bill Corbett! The best tracks are with all three of them. X-Men is my favorite.

They tend to start referencing running jokes in later movies too. For example, they reference a riff from X-Men (Magneto…Cerebro!) in another movie they riff (can’t remember which) and it’s pretty funny to know the context of the riffing “back story” if you will.

Bill is my favorite riffer. 🙂

I took my 13 year old to see it. She loved the books (being the ideal age for complete relationship fantasy.) I asked her how she liked it. She thought for a minute and said, “Eragon was better.” She hated Eragon. (Which shows she may grow up with taste.)

The problem with Robert Pattinson is that he is renowned for not bathing. The man [does not see the point of washing his hair.](http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1607791/20090326/story.jhtml) Apparently, he stinks. The only reason I know this is because my students tell me, I swear! 😃 Anyway, sorta ruins the cuteness for me.

You must nurture these insincts of hers. Help make them strong and confident before she hits her mid-late teens or god only knows what kind of tripe peer pressure may have her getting into.

I find this :dubious: . He certainly looked well groomed in HP. In Twitlight (I like that misspelling!) his haircut is so bad, no one can tell if it’s washed or not. As for BO… IMO, young males all smell a bit high. My 11 year old is now wearing deodorant.
The messy apt is a huge turn off, though. (as is the BO and oil hair, but I refuse to let go of my illusions!).

> **Zsofia** –I couldn’t stand the one Rice book I did read. What I remember most about it is the first vampire being “birthed” out of a oak tree. I have no recollection whatsoever of the sexual orientation of any of the vampires in her books or in general. That said, I have always vaguely thought that vampires were heterosexual. If I had to think about it and give an opinion, the act of plunging their fangs into someone’s lily white, virginal neck acts as a substitute for penile penetration, so perhaps they’re all sublimated frustrated passive/aggressive types? Armchair psychology only takes me so far…

I’ve stayed far, far away from Anne Rice’s books for many years now, but devoured the first three of her vampire books when I was younger and had less taste. 🆒 Based on my memory, I think you must have read _The Vampire Lestat_. I’m pretty sure there was something in that one about a vampire who was in an oak tree, although he wasn’t actually the first vampire. (The origin of the vampires is revealed in the third book, _The Queen of the Damned_. No trees are involved.)

Anyway, most of Rice’s male vampires are either gay or bi, but this is hardly a rule in vampire fiction. The majority of literary/cinematic vampires are heterosexual, to the extent that they are anything -sexual. (A good many lack either the inclination or the ability to have sex, what with being dead and all.) Some don’t even like to prey upon same-sex victims. Count Dracula certainly seems to prefer sucking of the necks of attractive young ladies.

The idea of the homosexual/homoerotic vampire does go back pretty far though, even predating _Dracula_ – the title character in J. Sheridan Le Fanu’s _Carmilla_ (1872) is about as overtly a lesbian as any character in a late 19th century work could be. There have been a fair number of gay/bi female vampires since then, especially since the '60s, largely I think because it allows the writers or filmmakers to have TWO sets of heaving bosoms and lily white necks in the same scene. Aside from Anne Rice, I’d say the idea of the gay male vampire got a boost in the '80s and '90s because of the rather obvious way vampirism could be used as a symbol for AIDS. And to 20th-21st century audiences, the classic Dracula type vampire seems kind of stereotypically gay. I mean, he’s an elegant European guy who has a house full of antiques, wears a fancy cape, doesn’t say much about his private life, and likes to stay out all night? Pretty obvious! There’s a great SNL skit that deals with this very subject – I can’t find a video clip, but [here’s the transcript](http://snltranscripts.jt.org/94/94cdracula.phtml).

In one of the other “three-riffers” riffs with Mike, Bill, and Kevin, Kevin attempts to join in on the “Magneto-Cerebro” running joke only to get slapped down by Mike and Bill

“No, that’s a Mike and Bill joke, not for Kevin!!”

One would assume that the warddrobe mistress, makeup artist and hairdresser on set would make sure you were groomed to character before appearing in the movie.

The blogs have had what appears to be unwashed photos of him going up for ages. Whether he actually stinks you cannot tell from photos on the interwebs…but there certainly have been enough photos that make me think he often purposely cultivates an unwashed look to make it believable.

He’s not that young. Old enough to shower and wash his hair. There are direct quotes from him saying he doesn’t see any point to washing his hair, and the rumors about his stink are rampant. Sorry, I know he’s cute, but he’s a dirtbag.

True, and my 17 year old son does not stink (well, except when he works out).

I just find it really odd, given how obsessed we are in Western culture to not smell “bad”, that he would do this. IOW, I think he’s messing with heads here.

Or maybe he wants his fanbase to leave him alone? 😕

I think he’s not very comfortable with being a heartthrob, and that is his way of fighting it, in every interview all they talked about was his hair, and he progressively made it worse and worse. Teenage girls are weird though, because it didn’t deter them at all. To be fair, he cut that birds nest off a few months ago, and now it is back to regular for filming of the second movie in the series.
I think he’s 23 anyway, and I know tons of 23 year old guys who are artsy fucks that play guitar that stink really bad, I almost think it’s fashionable for them.

He’ll need something a bit stronger than BO to do that. I’m thinking Mace.

If it wasn’t for the Twilight Rifftrax I never would have watched Twilight, the TwiTrax has to be one of their _best_ efforts yet, Rifftrax commentaries work best when skewering movies with an overinflated sense of self-importance, or movies that are just _bad_, nonexistent plot, characterizations and such

my previous “Gold Standard” 'Trax was a tie between the Star Wars Holiday Special and The Happening, but the Twilight 'Trax has dethroned both of them, it’s my new _gold standard_

Twilight has:
Mumbly navel-gazing? check.
long stretches of staring? check.
an overinflated sense of ego and self-importance? check and check.
ham-handed, overbearing “romance”? check.
fanatical, obsessive, reactionary fanbase? definitely check.
all this and more, it’s _BEGGING_ to be cut down to size, to be dropped numerous pegs, and the Rifftrax crew skewers this “movie” mercilessly.

Let me put it this way, I cannot understand how _anyone_ could voluntarily watch this tripe without Rifftrax enhancement, it’d be akin to watching “Manos; Hands of Fate” without MST3K enhancement…

I _DID_ try once to watch the movie with both the DVD commentary _AND_ the Rifftrax running at the same time, as I heard Patteson rips the movie to shreds himself, but it got too confusing, having three audio tracks running, the movie, the commentary, and the Rifftrax.

If you own a copy of Twilight, you _NEED_ the Rifftrax for it.
