So I recieved an e-mail from Jonathan Kellerman yesterday.

Interesting, thanks. I’ve been planning on re-reading the Pendergast books soon, so you piqued my curiosity.

I just remembered the word – provenience.

Now wouldn’t you think that was a typo?

Perhaps, but I probably would have looked it up before writing to the author.

I know! I said I felt like an idiot, didn’t I?

[pout] But the Keno twins always say provenance. [pout]

i’m jealous now auntie pam. i enjoy the preston childs books (together or when they go it alone).

Cool! I really enjoyed the Alex Delaware books. My pet peeve is how he always orders food and doesn’t eat it. He picks at it, leaves it on his plate, etc. There’s an uneaten feast if you count it all up throughout the books… I’m waiting for him to sit down and really enjoy a meal someday.

Here ya go!

I got a letter from Dr. Seuss when I was a child. Apparently I had written him (I really don’t remember, you’ll have to take my mom’s word on it) to ask him something, and in his reply he said it was the most interesting question he had ever been asked. Wonder what it was.

Kinda wish Ma hadn’t lost that letter.

Thanks Idle Thoughts! Don’t know why, but I’ve never read that book so now I’ll have to get it. I go through phases with Kellerman, I guess; lately, I’ve been more interested in his wife’s books, actually. Interesting to know that Kellerman had missed that character. Thanks again for chasing down that info.

I once emailed the “plus” sized model - Emme - about who did her hair. She emailed me back with not only the name of the salon (Salon AKS in NYC if anyone cares), but also the name & private number of her stylist. I too wrote back asking “Is that really you”, and she replied again that it was indeed her.

VCNJ~

I’ve sent 2 or 3 emails to Scott Adams (of Dilbert fame) and IIRC he replied to all of them. At least one was before the strip became big and syndicated, but the later ones were after he had published ‘The Dilbert Principle’.

I’ve sent 1 or 2 to Greg Egan, and Australian (iirc) writer of very hard sf, and he responded. As good as the guy is, I suspect his audience is small because his work is, as I previously mentioned, VERY hard sf. Wrote some great stuff, IMO. I’m reading ‘Schild’s Ladder’ now, and it’s pretty good.

I like Jonathan Kellerman, and listened to several of his Delaware novels on my commute.
