I take this girl to see Passion of Christ the other day. At one point she turns to me and whispers, “What’s with all the supernatural stuff??” bwahahahahaha She’s a Keeper!! :rolleyes: ---

Nah, I’m with **Nametag** on this one – not a date movie. I’m currently dating two guys, both of whom want to see it – I’m tempted to send them together, since I have zero interest. ---

Because you are dating two guys, that makes you the expert on the subject?!? Just because you don’t want to see it, doesn’t mean someone else feels the same way. She _wanted_ to see it. I couldn’t have cared less. It was not up there on the top of my list, but I had already seen everything I wanted to. Not a date movie? Who should one see it with? Their rabbi? If two people want to see it. Or rather, if one person really wants to see it (her), and the other doesn’t mind (me), where’s the problem? Should people on dates stick to only sappy lovey dovy chick flicks? My ass!! And saying that watching a movie about a crusifixion is the same as going to one is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t believe I’m even entertaining that idea. So when I took someone to see Braveheart, it was equivalent to taking a girl to see a 100s of people being stabbed and chopped. And then for the finale, someone being disembowled?? Have people forgotten this is just a damn movie?? This isn’t the first movie that showed a man die. Is it because the movie was about Jesus that makes everyone so sensitive? Who should go see that movie, then? Enlighten me. ---

**Bear\_Nenno** , it’s not a matter so much of what is “acceptable” as a date movie (obviously, that’s up to the two people on the date), at least if you both know what you’re getting into. (And the fact that it was her idea does change my perception of the incident in question.) Rather, it’s what kind of mood you wish to set for the rest of the evening. I had a first date with a very nice gentleman once to see _Cape Fear_. The mood for the rest of the date was uneasy, and we never went out again. For an extreme example, see the Travis and Cybill Go on a Date sequence from _Taxi Driver_. ---

$125,000,000 in it’s first 5 days? I hardly think you were the only one who brought a date to see it. I agree with your reasoning, **Bear\_Nenno** , but I can see where the others are coming from, too. I went alone, as I didn’t want to deal with the distraction of my wife asking “What’d I miss?” or “What’d he say?” Movies like this I prefer to see alone. When you’re on a date, there is the distraction of making sure your date is having a good time, and that takes away from the movie experience, for me anyway. In other words, **twickster** and **Nametag** simply expressed their opinions, and they were valid ones. There’s no reason to get upset by it.
