> _looks at friend with pink mohawk_ Maybe you are right… Well now that you guys have ruined THOSE piercings, will you guys agree I can get my belly button and a third one in my ear done?

> Oh, and it’s not for the envy of everyone at school. I really do want it, I think it looks really cool. Other girls being jelous is just an added plus 😃

Well, we agree you _can_… but why bother?

In two years everyone else you know will have one, and nobody will remember that you’ve had yours longer. In the fivish years I’ve been in college, I’ve seen approximately forty girls naked (no, not necessarily like that) and another, oh, gosh, gazillion with exposed bellybuttons.

I can count the ones who didn’t have navel piercings on like six hands.

For sheer monkey-see-monkey-do-ness, the only thing that comes close is the bizarre urge so many women have to get tattooed on their lower backs. What purpose does the butterfly or randomly selected quasi-asian character serve?

If you want a _cool_ body modification, figure out what the Japanese character for “cliche” is and get THAT tattooed on your back 😉

> Actully, these are the only piercings I’m allowed to get. At all. So she isn’t THAT lenient then most mothers. _shrugs_ Anyway, I’ll keep you updated about it. Only a day away till I get it done!!!

If she’s letting you get a navel piercing, I daresay she is more lenient than many mothers.

Lest you think she was simply being a total party pooper, **Mama Tiger** took me and my cousin (we were, respectively, 20 and 18) to get tattoos. It’s the only one I have, I don’t know if my cousin has gotten any more. However, we were both of age, and obviously neither mother minded.

The only tatoo I’ve been able to admire or respect is the one a college student at my church got as her mother was dying from breast cancer. I haven’t seen it, but I understand it to be a pink ribbon with either Mom or her mom’s name, and the date. Considering the anguish this child has been through the last seven years dealing with her mom’s illness, it seems an appropriate gesture. I believe she had it done in time to show her mom, and added the date after the fact.
