So, I'd like a lesson in Living Cheaply 101.

Yup, get a bike. Furthermore, get a bike and take your car off the road, after all, one of your friends always has a car.

To add/amend to Metacom’s list of suggestions:

  1. Don’t get a leg band! Wasted money I tell ya. A butterfly paperclip, you know , the big ol’ ones used to hold 150+ pages together, works just as well.

  2. Don’t get an expensive bike but don’t go super cheap. A garage sale special may look good at first but if you have to replace it in three months, you’ve wasted money.

  3. A good lock(s) is your best friend. Spend money on this.

  4. Ride safe and smart. Lights (front and rear) and helmet.

  5. As for inclement weather, aren’t you in Virginia?

  6. Regular maintenance will keep a bike running longer and save you money. Keep your chain greased and use the cabbage you’ve saved to buy a six pack. Beer tastes better after biking,

7, Think about getting a good (read big) bag. This allows you to carry the books you can’t read at the univ. bookstore, tools and parts for an emergency, and groceries all at once.

for you dehydrated whole milk is the ticket then…tastes infinitely better than the skim mik powder garbage…and since it is used in making cooked goods, any slight difference in flavor is masked by the other ingredients…frex I can make identical indian pudding or bread pudding using either dried whole milk or fresh whole milk…I get mine at a chinese grocery, of all places. The skim milk powder is just total freaking garbage, it is nutritionally null and tastes like ass.
