Yes, really, I am. It’s the first annual Philadelphia [Liberty Stampede](http://www.libertygra.org/html/stampede08.html). Never been to the rodeo before, gay or straight. Dunno what to expect. Mebbe I’ll find my Jack Twist. But I got my boots on, as well as my wranglers, stetson & big belt buckle, and it’s time to giddeeyup! I’ll let you know how it went on Monday. WTF is a gay rodeo? How does this work? Are the barrel racers guys or lesbians? Us regular ol’ cowboys never heard of such a thing, and I for one am a little more than passin’ curious. ---

[/QUOTE] Pretty much the same as a non-gay rodeo: **The animals win.** The bronco busters and bull riders will get stomped. The guys working chutes will get stepped on. The arena crew gets dirty. The clowns get chased. The last one I was at, the barrel racers were a mix of guys and gals. ---

This thread reminds of a joke I once heard about why cowboys have their names tooled on the their belts. Of course the last time I heard it somebody almost got knocked out. It’s nice to be among people who don’t cast dispersions about others values so freely. ---

Ooh, you’ll have a blast! The [Atlantic Stampede](http://www.asgra.org/) here in DC is my favorite time of year. The rodeo itself is secondary, as far as I’m concerned, to the epic dances at the host hotel all weekend. Wall-to-wall cowboys – hundreds and hundreds of them, many from out of town 😃 . And the rodeo site itself has a dancing tent and beer stands, so relatively few people actually watch the rodeo. It’s a legitimate rodeo, but for many people (myself included) it’s just an excuse to meet hot cowboys. ---
