It is still one of the finest zoos in the world. If it’s not raining, this is a good time to go; the big-ticket animals tend to be more active in cool autumn weather. There’s some new baby tigers this year.
Be sure to say hello to Charles, leader of the gorilla troop.
Well, I spent yesterday doing shopping-type stuff and meeting up with a friend, then I went to Shanghai Cowgirl for dinner. I spent a fortune at Bakka Books, thanks for the recommendation. Today I’m going to go up check out a few of the local corset-makers and gawk at some antiques (I can’t afford to buy), then I’m going to a tribal bellydance performance, then if I’m still functioning, I’m going go check out “Full Tilt Wednesdays” at the Velvet Underground which may be too rock-ish, but I’ll see.
Tomorrow I’m planning on doing an architecture tour and then meeting up with anyone who is interested at Tortilla Flats.
Lissla, I’m planning on going to the Northbound Leather fashion show on Saturday, then showing up at Savage Garden. Maybe I’ll see you there!
And teach it when you’re feeling masochistic, IIRC.
So, should we consider tomorrow [Thursday] at 7:30pm at Tortilla Flats a “go” then? Some of the Toronto folk will recognize each other, so I don’t think we’ll need a big Straight Dope Here sign or anything.
Sorry about not replying, it was just a little bellydance performance being put on by some friends of mine. It was supposed to be a promotion for “Play Dead”, a store one of them co-owns, but she didn’t get the word out in time, so it ended up just being word of mouth. Very talented dancers, though.
I’ll be at Tortilla Flats at 7:30, and we’ll see if anyone other than me, mischief-lover, and Cerowyn show up. Anyone who comes gets a beer on me.
Botheration! I don’t think I’ll be able to make it!
I’m going away tomorrow after work for a course on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and I just found out that the guy I was expecting to give me a lift can’t make it, which means I’ll have to take the bus from Toronto, which means I need to leave work at about 1PM to get to the bus station at 4:00, which means that I have to work late tonight and early tomorrow to make up for it…
I should have followed my gut feeling and just booked the day off, like I did for coming back.
I must terribly apologise. I was so looking forward to seeing everyone.
(If I can make alternate arrangements, I may show up, but don’t count on it.)

I’ll probably bring a couple of people who have been to SDMB gatherings before, even though they’re not technically posters here. Hope to see some people there; we’ve got to show some TorDope spirit for mischievous!
Many thanks to Cerowyn, who took us out for some good food and good conversation. Thanks to all of the rest of you, as well, for all of the great recommendations.
