And that’s just it. Michael Kinsley isn’t calling right-wingers ‘Nazis.’ Ann Coulter and others of similar stature are calling liberals ‘traitors’.
Now: who of any note on the left is publicly calling right-wingers ‘Nazis’? Prof. Whoishe at Podunk U.? BFD.

And when Al Franken or Michael Moore or some other liberal as visible and “respsectable” as Ann Coulter writes a book called “Nazis” in which he claims that conservatives or republicans are nazis, you will have a point. But I’m not holding my breath. Premedidated theses of bestselling books are just a TAD more disturbing than angry posts by single people on message boards. I’m not saying you won’t be able to find examples of people calling republicans nazis. What I am saying is that for every one you do, I can find a quote from a conservative in a similarly relevant situation calling all liberals idiots or homos or traitors or whatever. But there is no left-wing equivalent to Ann Coulter. And that’s at least one small, specific area in which I’m proud to be on the side I’m on.
(Note: that guy who called all the twin towers victims “little Goebbels”, Winston someone, was NOT a bestselling author who wields great influence in the liberal movement. He was a fringe nuthead who people have only heard of because of the amount of criticism he’s getting. I’ve never seen even the most liberal of SDMB posters say anything nice about him. And I personally can’t describe him accurately without risking language only appropriate for the pit. So please don’t bring him up as a counterweight to Ann Coulter.)
